Huntington- What a let down

Its a typival newcastle way of doing things. Blooding young kids into the team. But in a wrong position. Surely it will do the confidence no good.

He's blooded him through desparation, not choice. He did look nervous, he did give the ball away. He's clearly not of the grade yet - but I think everyone knows that. He's there because of injuries to other players.

Dismissing a young lad after a couple of games. Pathetic. No wonder the atmosphere in the ground is pants.

Expected alot from this young lad. But just another Peter Ramage, Steven Taylor. Big Tackler but lack of composure on the ball. GAve the ball away one to many times. But we'll wait and see. :thdn:

Make a sentence out of the following, "go back to following netball you clueless fuckwit, if you had one more fucking braincell you could bark".

Another example of where abuse becomes acceptable because the admins don't agree with the initial post of the person being abused. Typical.

Dear Mr or Mrs or Mizz Thompers,

I hereby withdraw my comment against aforementioned poster, maybe I was a little harsh in my criticism of the chap who was having a pop at a player he knows fuck all about, if you find my comments abusive I apologise wholeheartedly and hope you have recovered from the shock.

I hope the board and everyone on here can recover form by personal attack on poor douga, again to you Thompers I apologise for the stress and hurt I have caused you. Please, please forgive my indiscretion.

P.S. I hope you get the bike, lego set and Barbie you wished for and don't forget if you're not good Santa won't come.

Special shout to Huntington tonight, played really well and kept Kalou very quiet. Should have been made man of the match.

Does anyone know what his preferred position is? I think he will be challenging to be a first team regular before the season's out, regardless of signings and injuries.

Not much of a natural footballer, mind.

He's a fucking defender, did you fucking expect Ronaldinho skill from him or something??

Ramage looked poo at full back but moved to his preferred position and he looks like a promising defender.

Chill! Just some basic skills wouldn't have gone a miss, trap the ball, pass, etc. But we don't seem to turn out players with much technical ability from the academy. Won't stop him becoming a decent defender if he's got in him. For the record, i think Ramage is doing ok but is never gonna be good defender imo. Don't get me wrong, i hope we give him the time to see if he can develop, won't catch me booing him!

Carragher is nothing to look at in terms of technique but his positioning, reading of the game and tackling make him the quality, reliable defender he is. Same goes for many other established defenders in England.

I'm not that fussed if Huntington isn't demonstrating much technique right now, it doesn't mean it's not there. A teenage central defender thrust into the first team and told to play full back against Chelsea is likely to play within himself and always go for the simple ball.

I see what you mean in the case of Ramage, he has very limited footballing ability, but I'd say Taylor at right back demonstrated decent technique for a central defender. Give Huntington time, he may come out of his shell a bit more.

Off the ball Huntington looks a canny prospect to me, always switched on and never caught out by Kalou. He held his own tonight.

What i do like about Huntington is that he's big and looks like he could develop into a strong lad. Ramage hasn't got that going for him nor is he quick/agile. If Ramage is to become a good prem defender he'll have to be very clever to make up for his lack of athleticism a la Baresi and in all fairness he is looking better. Here's hoping. Still wish that one of our academy 'starlets' could show a bit of technique though. i guess we don't train for that at Newcastle.

Huntington, I believe, will be a big noise in the years to come.

He's hardly had the gentlest introduction to first team football and apart from five or ten minutes of the collywobbles in his first game he's been very good.

I am impressed with his confidence in himself and how he interacts with his teammates.  None of the senior players took the ball off him either in play or for the throw ins.  They all had belief in that he could deliver when he had the ball.

He didn't leave the left flank glaringly open tonight and I don't remember him falling on his arse at all.

For his third full game the lad done good.  I am very impressed with him and I want to see him a permanent part of the side as soon as possible.

There's two ways to take these critisisms of the players and the manager; that they are hopeless or that they are not delivering yet.  I am in the camp that believes that things are certainly turning around (remember the Boumsong/Bramble centre combination?) and that things are moving ahead in a good, strong and positive direction.

It seems that now things are looking better that things can't be too good for some people here.  Hell's teeth, we've suffered long enough and now, perhaps for the first time since I wore short trousers, things are starting to strengthen at the Good Ship Newcastle.  Rome, as they say, wasn't built in a day nor was Manchester United under Ferguson and, yet, I feel that people are wanting miracles too soon.

The club and the team are advancing and are looking stronger month by month.  Yes, there will be hiccups along the way, yes we will fail to win all five possible trophies this year but as long as the club is moving forwards playing positive football and rebuilding itself then we can wait another season or two.

For the first time in ages I have felt really positive about Newcastle. I can just about remember the Fairs Cup year and I have waited this long.  I can, and will, wait a few more years if the club and team is being developed like it is.

Getting back to my first point; again, well done Huntington.
