Be good to see him back and stay fit for the rest of the season.

IF this happens I reckon we’ll be there or there abouts for CL - the blokes a good player who is a miss whenever he’s out

It’s so annoying that it’s practically a year since we’ve probably seen him

Out of his own self-interest I assue Wilson wants a big end to the season.

If he can stay fit and score 3-5 goals, he might earn himself £4m-8m retirement fund with a 2-3 year deal at West Ham, Everton or something.

If he doesn't play much the offers won't be worth putting his body on the line again.

If we were cheeky and he scores 5+ perhaps we could sell him to Saudi for £10m+? (extending the contract then selling him might be a red flag)

There's no way he's getting a 3 year deal anywhere, I'd be surprised if he got a 2 year deal anywhere aswell.

I know, mate. He's quality when he's fit.

Are we really still talking about 33-year-old Callum Wilson being a miss when we have the best striker in the league and it’s obvious Wilson is unlikely to last 3 sub appearances before his next injury?

Yes, because unfortunately Isak’s race is generally run after 70 mins of most games, as shown by his extremely low goal output after that point.

I’d imagine a lot of that is down to how we typically play during that time of the match. Over the past few seasons we generally fall in to a flat 4-5——1 in a lot of matches from 60-70 on and that’s not Isak’s game at all.

Quite probably, which is why it would be helpful to have someone a little better suited to those situations.

Isak has looked better in the final 20 minutes in recent weeks imo.

Still feel Wilson could be a powerful asset off the bench in the run in. His goals got us over the finish line for 4th.

Agreed, he has looked better in the last 20, especially of late, but probably all season, in comparison to last season anyway, when he was often completely spent, and pretty much a passenger. Albeit, he was probably being asked to keep going whilst being well short of 100% fitness.

But having Wilson to come on, even if it’s to partner him if we’re chasing, will be a help.

If he comes off the bench instead of Osula 10 times this season it’ll mean at least 3 more goals for the team.

If it comes down to fine margins for CL qualification Wilson could be the difference in making it or not. Be useful to have if there’s a cup final too.

Trying to get another season out of him looks a bit hopeful though

Stat nerd here: I'd be interested to see a league wide stat of what percent of goals is scored in each portion of a match.

Fake edit: Found it for this season  https://www.soccerstats.com/timing.asp?league=england

Goals by 15-min. segment

Min.Goals% goals

0-15 104 15.1%

16-30 97 14.0%

31-45 115 16.6%

46-60 125 18.1%

61-75 96 13.9%

76-90 154 22.3%

I'd also be surprised if he would want to still play in English game after this season. Clearly can't cope, so probably a season abroad to experience something else, get injured and retire.

Nobody expects Wilson to stay fit but if by some miracle he can then he’s a valuable asset off the bench and gives us a different target option. He’ll score a vital goal at some point between now and then end of the season too, he’s a poacher.

Last season he would barely move in the last 20 minutes it was so bad.
