ponsaelius Posted Monday at 13:30 Share Posted Monday at 13:30 Has anybody actually watched it or just random clips out of context? I thought it was good, although I imagine the original stage show would have been better where you get a bit more poetic license. It's always a bit cringe/uncanny valley trying to recreate people on screen whose appearances and mannerisms are so well known. Plus football scenes never translate well to TV/film (even in case of Ted Lasso which is well loved).

I might give it a watch some day but for now I'm just enjoying some of the appalling characterisations. Edited Monday at 13:36 by Moose

Kid Icarus Posted Monday at 13:40 Share Posted Monday at 13:40 Got to admit I don't think it looks good, but it looks proper entertaining like. Will probably watch it.

KennyUtd Posted Monday at 13:53 Share Posted Monday at 13:53 Pickford is bang on. Exactly how I imagine him to be in the changing room. A coked up Zebedee just bouncing about shouting shite.
NUFCDoog Posted Tuesday at 11:47 Share Posted Tuesday at 11:47 It was decent enough, but I can certainly see why it was created as a play. I imagine that's a lot better, and shorter. Making it into a TV show of 4 one hour episodes really takes it away from what it was created as.

Stitching the real match footage with the actors essentially repeating the play is extremely jarring, and highlights the miscasting that goes less noticed on stage. It was also really obvious what had been tacked on to the original play when I went to see it last year n'all. Should've just covered up to the 2022 World Cup and stopped there.
