Winter is great and seems to have a soft spot for us. No idea what happened with him leaving The Times. Sounds like it wasn't his decision

met him at SJP a few years ago and he does seem to love his trips up here.

got chatting about his brother Tim who was a cambridge lecturer and had done some documentary on egypt that i'd seen.

fascinating, i know.

Just loves his football and traditional old clubs does Hank. Think football journalism has moved slightly beyond him, to either OTT analysis or click bait, but always come across as fairly sane when taking about us.

He’s a proper writer though, proper journalist. Of the old form.

Cancer is a bastard, all the best Darren

Totally agree. I was diagnosed with kidney cancer back in December. Hospital for something else and found the tumour surgery in February removed full kidney. Hadn’t spread so no further treatment. Just six monthly scans and blood tests for rest of life.  Small price to pay.

It certainly puts the lack of future development announcements in sharp perspective.

I would imagine DE's calendar would be filled up weeks/months in advance before all this so it makes total sense now that things, like for example any stadium plans would be kept on ice for a bit.

I hope he's at the club long enough that he'll get to announce whatever may be coming, he deserves to have a place in that history with the club.

Also very interesting to see what kind of character the club choose to take up his role.

Yeah, don't disagree on that.

The Eales situation is interesting as it's the first time that Yasir/Solis/PIF have kind of been forced to take a lead. At least publicly, the minority shareholders always did a lot of the legwork on the executive direction of the club. Then, obviously, Eales the CEO would've been expected to head up things. But now he's having to leave, the next step up is inevitably Yasir and his retinue.
