Given Hoppy’s background in corporate finances, sponsorship etc, he would have sussed Silverstone out very quickly and binned him.

Hadn't thought of that angle but it makes complete sense.

Makes total sense and to be honest as soon as Hopkinson came in it would have sent alarm bells ringing for Silverstone. He's lead the commercial/partnership teams at both Real Madrid and Toronto, clearly there's a reason we've brought a commercial guy in at the very top.

Can't argue with the commercial growth under his watch, but the ticketing system is a shambles.

I think you can tbh unless there's some big surprise in the next accounts (which I assume not given his sacking). This is actually very encouraging from Hopkinson and gives some hope we can go to another level.

It seems the next accounts will see us break the £400 million mark. That seems like another sizeable annual jump for us, we've never really stalled on that front.

They’re expected to be north of £400m in the next accounts. Would argue that growth, from £140m or so in 2021, is pretty damn good.

Ticketing falls under a different person who probably reported into Silverstone so she can be next to go, in my opinion.

I think you might be thinking of the Head of Supporter Services...

Chris Parkinson is the Head of Ticketing for Newcastle United, having been appointed in September 2024. He previously worked at Burnley FC and the Yorkshire County Cricket club.

Yep. He's come with a big reputation, he's not going to come here to trundle on in the same manner we have been. No idea if Silverstone was even that bad at his job, but with PSR still there, we need big movers and shakers on board.

Has he been sacked?

Ticketing falls under Yvette Thompson’s responsibilities as Commerical Venue Director. Well, if the FAB meetings are anything to go by.

Trundle on? We've been growing the commercial side circa 30% year on year. That's pretty impressive within the confines FMV.

Unless the plan is to start challenging those confines.

“Tune in for Thursday’s NUFC Confidential to find out who”

I know for sure that one of the senior-ish members of staff (not as senior as Silverstone) who arrived post-takeover has been actively and openly seeking pastures new.

And this isn't ITK bollocks, it's just not appropriate to share any more than that.
