CallumG6
Seen on LinkedIn the other day that we were hiring for a Partnerships Manager of some kind to work under the Head of Commercial, sounds like Silverstone isn’t the only one who’s gone. Maybe not Not sure how the 'increases' with the same sponsor, or changing to new ones work. You'd think getting CL twice and winning a cup would be grounds to say 'we've performed better than Chelsea, Tottenham etc, we want sponsors closer to them' But probably not that simple 🤷

timeEd32
I don't think there's any evidence that the business side did a bad job, but given the obstacles in our way we need them to overachieve in the way Eddie has done on the pitch and I don't think you can argue they've done that either. We need Hopkinson to raise the ceiling, so this seems promising.

That's pretty impressive within the confines FMV. Unless the plan is to start challenging those confines. Well I was hoping that Hopkinson had ideas to challenge the confines. Otherwise I'm sure he could have just kept Silverstone on if we were happy to continue the same path.

andycap
Just my opinion mate I could be wrong, but to me he was on charge of sponsorships for the ground training ground training tops and the rest of the hoopla. Which he hasn't sorted.

Revenue rising from £140m to £400m or so in three years. One of the best growths in world football. You can argue it was going to happen regardless but somebody had to be at the helm leading it. Training kit is an obvious sore spot but they’re on record of wanting the correct partners. I’d have hoped that would have been sorted by now though. Training ground sponsors, for older facilities, are unlikely and rare in the PL. The new build should have one, though.

Which he hasn't sorted. The problem is, as with all executive roles generally, we never really know who’s responsible for the final decision on things. Yes, it would appear that the likes of training ground/kit sponsorship fell under Silverstone’s remit, but what if Eales or someone else at that level told him to hold off on that for some reason? We’ll never know. And for that reason I’ll hold off having a committed strong opinion one way or the other.
