You could argue that tactically Iraola has got the better of Howe this season, one of the games I thought we were comprehensively outplayed, and by a team with less resources. But that was one match, and despite them having a great season, we don't know how he will pan out long term.

Regardless, tactics aren't everything either, Howe is also a great fit for Newcastle in that he feels the city in his bones. You won't get that with many managers, and probably why Rafa was so loved while he was here as well.

You could also argue Iraola has been able to spend money and improve his squad over the last couple of years. It's going to be two years this summer since we last strengthened the squad , yet we are still in the top 6 and above Iraola. I would bet Bournemouth wouldn't be in a similar position to now in two years time if they made no signings during that period .

Iraola is on an upwards trajectory but he’s not like a post Dortmund Klopp.  He’s not achieved anything Howe hasn’t. Likewise we aren’t such a big step/opportunity given PSR.

Not saying there won’t be reasons Howe might get fired/leave.

Iraola's spent a fraction of what Howe's spent lets be realistic now

Since Iraola joined Bournemouth he's had a net spend of ~ÂŁ200m on transfers while Eddie has ~ÂŁ80m (going by transfermarkt numbers) in the same period.

Bournemouth fans think Howe is a club legend, but you won’t find many who think he is a better manager than Iraola.

Jesus Christ. As if this proves anything. People have gold fish memories. Once he hits a rough patch, there will be the goateed version of you on a Bournemouth forum calling for an upgrade.

Which makes what he has done even more impressive.

He came in, had a squad of players that were used to playing an awful style of football and had to coach them to play the style he wanted.

They now play some of the most entertaining football in the league.

You do realise this is exactly what Howe has done here don’t you? From a worst starting point as well ?

Exactly.

When managers work out how Bournemouth play and start respecting them, they will struggle just like us. It's hard to become a top team. Not sure why we have to compare managers - there are many good ones!!

Iraola is standing on the shoulders of giants and those giants are Howe and Tindall. He's not even there without them because they wouldn't have had any investment. These digs at Howe are getting easier and easier to poke holes in.

 Are you saying that knowing who Bournemouth were before Howe was their manager? They spent the majority of their first 100 years in the 4th and 5th tiers of English football. Their highest ever finish was 7th in League One.

It would be like a manager now getting a team like Carlisle from the bottom of League 2 to 9th in the Premier League, keeping them there for 5 years then criticising the relegation while lauding the manager who got the fruits of their labour.

I would hope you realise how utterly ignorant or entitled that would look.

I think he's a great manager, and is destined to go on to be a top one, but he does have to prove it over more than one season. Plus, being a great manager doesn't necessarily mean he'd be the right manager for us. Would he stay if Man U came calling after one season of success at Newcastle? You know Howe isn't going anywhere unless he feels he's not being backed.

I don’t think we will find out, because I don’t see a top club coming in for Howe.
