For anyone who still believes Howe can/will turn it around, what makes you confident in that ?

The performance midweek, mistakes aside, was not that of a side that will remain in a slump. There's so much guts and ability in that squad, the problem has been getting it consistently. I back Eddie and still do. Mainly because I just don't see an alternative at this point in a busy season. If we finish below mid-table and the right option in the summer becomes available, whomever that might be, i'd be sad but would understand. Sacking a manager mid-season rarely works out and can backfire badly.

I tend to doubt anyone saying today that it's the end of the road, felt that way 4 days ago. I may be wrong.

The performance midweek, though immeasurably better than the rubbish either side, was the definition of a midtable side at home on a Wednesday eve against very good one. We’ve had enough of being midtable alsorans.

Disagree. We absolutely dominated them in the first half. We showed in 22' and in bits last season we have the ability to be a top 7 side. This season has been a mess from the start but it's the first period in 3 years where we've been unable to break the midtable-feel of things.

I just don't think it's a permanent thing and I blame the crap summer, boardroom upheaval, plus a really bad transfer window. The momentum has gone. Is that all Eddie's fault? If the players have stopped playing for him, then it's a short road and we know the outcome. Only they know why they can't get it together consistently. It's fucking maddening.

PSR is probably going to force us into a rebuild into the summer, isn't it? I'd be making any decision on the head coach with that in mind.

Howe either does enough in the second half of the season to earn the right to create a new version of the team, or we get our ducks in a row to make the change as soon as the curtain falls on the season.

If it was me making the decision, I'd probably twist now to try and spark us in a league that's there for the taking from 5th down, but I think that's extremely unlikely and I appreciate it would be incredibly harsh.

I'd like us to find a playing style that isn't so reliant on the high press and that affords us some level of control without our lads having to run themselves into the ground.

I've been keen he has at least the season to turn it around.

But inreasingly I see the sense of an earlier switch. If we are going to move on, and the trajectory is clear - it gives a new manager at least a bit of time to understand what they have and don't have - before they have a transfer window. And maybe even a new manager bump to sneak into Europe.

The remainder of December is absolutely critical. Needs results and performances.

I don’t think the players will ever stop playing for him, they have too much respect for him. I do think our better players may have lost belief in his tactics though. They certainly aren’t designed to get the best out of them.

He's not playing the way he wants to is the main reason. We want to be set up on the halfway line and keep the opposition penned in. We'll get there again but we need to refresh the squad.

I'd make a change now personally. We aren't winning the League Cup with the sides that'll likely be in the semi final.

Could still salvage something from the season with a change as I can't see us getting Europe with how it is right now.

Agree with some of that. I just think we’ve been shit for the vast majority of the season and it can’t be acceptable. No other club with our ambitions would just put their hands over their ears and promise themselves things will get better based on very little.

£75m to spend in the summer (Hall’s fee aside) and they bought just Osula. What were they all thinking?

I think you might be exaggerating a tad. The criticism has been pretty relentless the season (some of which I've contributed to) and I don't think I've constantly been in here jabbing pointy sticks at any Howe attackers. I'll admit that I've always prickled at criticism which I think is undeserved or doesn't afford enough consideration of context.

If I'm generally more forgiving then it's because of the things I place value in and a lasting weariness of hating everything about the club. But I haven't dismissed anyone's views when I've not been in a position to actually defend my own, which is what you said in the first place.

Glad this gave you and a few others the opportunity to discharge their irritations about my takes in the form of a Like, like! :memelol:

Could well be the case. Only they know. Ultimately, if enough of them don't buy in anymore, the outcome is always the same.

Aye and that’s why we are at a big junction. Do we give him the big backing again and hope he can turn it around, or do we replace him and give the new guy the backing. Feels like a critical time.

I admittedly haven't enjoyed this season, a few moments aside. The summer activity was a travesty. I find our ability to turn up regularly against the best but play so badly against the rest, really frustrating. Wednesday night felt good, today feels really bad. Some of this is on Eddie, but a lot isn't. Ultimately though, we know how these things tend to turn out. The question being asked mainly seems to be, is now the time? I think it would backfire but we'll see.

A lashing out from consistently N-O's worst poster (and what a fucking field he's competing in) should be taken as a badge of honour tbf.
