We seemed fatigued and we never really recovered from a poor start to the game and ultimately have a lot to reflect on."

Dancing Brave Posted Saturday at 23:11 Share Posted Saturday at 23:11 When i read all this shit it makes me think how lucky i was to be a Newcastle United fan in the 80s, when football fans were proper fans. The internet has fucked all that.
LiquidAK Posted Saturday at 23:31 Share Posted Saturday at 23:31 I feel like anyone who watched the game can see we looked out of energy, second to every ball, losing every 50-50. There were signs of leggyness against Wolves too so this hasn't come out of nowhere. I have no idea why Bournemouth weren't equally as tired given similar fixture congestion, but I also know what I saw it's not the sole reason we lost today but seems disingenuous to pretend it wasn't a factor just because they "should" have been as tired. Ellis H Posted Saturday at 23:47 Share Posted Saturday at 23:47 Feels like massive nitpicking but they went out the league cup in August while we’ve been playing in it up to last week. No real need for “excuses” though, they were just the better team on the day.
huss9 Posted Sunday at 00:55 Share Posted Sunday at 00:55 we were fatigued - mentally and physically. this one's not on eddie. players didnt turn up.

The thing I love about Howe is that he never accepts failure. We've gone on a few bad runs that could of spiralled but he never lets it get that far. So many managers accept failure and just wait it out instead of forcing the issue. We're one of the lucky ones to have a manager who will bust his ass at his job when the team dips in form. Kanj Posted Sunday at 06:23 Share Posted Sunday at 06:23 We lost a football match on ghd back of a near unprecedented winning run. Shut the fuck up with unnecessary bullshit. This happens in football.
Displayname Posted Sunday at 06:43 Share Posted Sunday at 06:43 People whining over people whining are actually more numerous and more whiny than the people who whined originally. Come to think of it, I havent seen any serious whining over Eddie today. What does whining even mean these days? Is this a whiny post?
BoSelecta Posted Sunday at 06:54 Share Posted Sunday at 06:54 They played well, pressed well and finished well but are we going to ignore that their ‘tactics’ for nullifying us offensively amounted to kick, pull and foul Bruno every time he breaks the press. Our entire game flow throws him and the ref allowed them to systematically drag him into the ground. I honestly think it played a huge part in us not getting our game going. Of course Howe would never mention it but I doubt he was happy.

It’s a football forum - we’re going to debate wins and losses. I thought it was a bad defeat and poor performance from the team and manager after an incredible winning run. It happens, but for me if criticism can’t be offered then praise can’t either. We’ve got a good manager and a good team, that hasn’t changed.

That Neil player could have and should have received about 6 yellow cards if that's at all possible.

Yeah, I've just checked the stats and Bournemouth were ahead in the foul count by 18-7 and in yellow cards by 6-1. It's part of the professional game, and players have to find ways of dealing with it. We move on.
Zero Posted Sunday at 08:35 Share Posted Sunday at 08:35 Most of the people would take a fatigue loss after 9 straight wins. It’s totally fine. We should start to worry if we have another few losses like this. now it’s still too early for that. That said, the club should bring in 1-2 players before the end of this window to support Eddie. Keegans Export Posted Sunday at 08:36 Share Posted Sunday at 08:36 We just need a Bournemouth manager. Eddie Howe is the manager, but then we have a second manager who tags in leading up to any time we play Bournemouth, he takes training, picks the team and is on the touchline for the game then at full time he clears off and Eddie's back in again. An extra 4-6 points per season. Simple.
duo Posted Sunday at 08:38 Share Posted Sunday at 08:38 (edited) I did think the ref was poor allowed Bournemouth to get away with way too many fouls. Cook is a prime example- I lost count the number of fouls he made. I am not saying this is why we lost but it didn't help us find a rhythm and also could/should have resulted in red. Which could have changed the narrative. Edited Sunday at 08:39 by duo

I’m not seeing the over analysis here. Fatigue was mentioned as a reason for the scale of the defeat; I think we were outplayed and Howe was out-managed on the day, which happens. That doesn’t mean Bournemouth are a better side nor Iraola a better manager. It’s not particularly in-depth analysis.
Dokko Posted Sunday at 09:15 Share Posted Sunday at 09:15 Never going to a game again. When their 3rd was disallowed I came inside and watched on the screen, see if that helped. Sorry Eddie. All my fault.
J7 Posted Sunday at 09:16 Share Posted Sunday at 09:16 I’m not sure why people get so worked up at others discussing a game and what went wrong. Even the strengths and weaknesses of a manager or player in the aftermath. I don’t see much over analysis either. ‘Oh well, just move on’ whilst shoot anyone commenting down is annoying whether it’s on the internet or on the train home. Leemond Posted Sunday at 09:23 Share Posted Sunday at 09:23 Least we know Eddie has probably watched the match back again 5x to try to improve himself and the team. Previous Manager's would have put it down to "one of those days" and moved on, learning nothing.

Which could have changed the narrative. It was definitely reffed different to most games. The commentary were doing my head in making out it was good. Had their lads received the yellows you’d expect then they couldn’t have continued deliberately fouling everytime we had the potential to break. It actually killed the rhythm of our game, led to a loss of control underpinned by Joelinton cutting down Baby Kluivert and our resultant comprehensive loss. I don’t understand why he gave Tyler Adam’s a booking for the Joelinton incident. He played on with Baby K on the break, no advantage to us,. I suspect while that incident played out VAR effectively told him it was a foul on Gordon. Makes me wonder how many more times VAR noticed his poor decision making but couldn’t intervene.
