He turned a dressing room with turned heads into a 5th place team and nearly snatched 2nd place. He won us our first cup in 70 years and he got us 2 CL births at that. Fucking hung out to dry by the club time and time and time again.

If we go on to have a good season (insert your own version of ‘good’) after all this, he goes down as our best manager in living memory IMO.

He's won us a trophy, he easily already is

I don't think he will, but this sort of window, coupled with the board disruption over the past couple of years, does give sense that a manager would walk.

Keegan would have been gone by now, but im not sure Eddie would, unless he got a good offer from somewhere i guess, like if England came calling now, and obviously I know they wont, id expect he'd consider it a lot more with thr current situation.

Eddie's got to be wondering what's left for him to achieve at the club. I think he'll be here until the end of his contract but beyond that I don't know, without a significant rule change there is very little point in plodding on.

The club is obviously a bit of a shambles currently but he isn’t blameless. Never give a manager full control over signings - it’ll be a disaster.

Our recruitment has been unbelievably poor this summer and these are his targets - all players attracting interest from cartel clubs - what did he expect? If you go after them you need to be ruthless and present a project worth playing for, but he has his nephew negotiating the deals and he appears to be useless.

He’s complained non stop about PSR, with that in mind being creative in this window was a must. I’ve seen people citing he wants established players and I get that, but he himself was quoted not long ago that’s extremely difficult for us to do.

God, if he went full scorched earth. &nbsp

But he won’t. That’s not his style.

Mind, he didn’t hold back during our tour  last summer about the Mitchell appointment!

All the signings were class prior to DOF , so don't hang that on Eddie.

He’s a football manager. He shouldn’t dictate the transfers. No competent club has that structure.

I don’t blame him for the transfer window at all. He’s doing the best he can.

What is it then. Think I've misunderstood.

We have gone for players that seemingly looked unrealistic given the interest from other clubs and the wages they can offer. Nearly all based in the premier league. These are his targets.

To me that looks like very little homework or pre planning has gone into it. Not solely on the manager obviously - the lack of a structure is killing Newcastle atm.

Again we’ve bleated about PSR for so long but have played right into its hands this summer.

I find all this criticism of the nephew to be pretty mean spirited. By all accounts he was heavily involved in some of our best signings, and is assumed to be at fault because he’s related to Eddie and other teams have been financially blowing us out of the water.

it reminds me of when Hughes at Bournemouth was linked here as DOF and people were like: oh look, another one of Howes hopeless mates.

now he’s at Liverpool and running the game.
