When you have 3 games in a week rotation feels pretty significant for me tbh. I felt like we got that wrong yesterday, I don't think we should be starting Joelinton and Bruno with a CL game on Tuesday.

I agree with the theory, I’m just saying he hasn’t had very many good young players to call on.
andycap
He will come good I'm sure. Just needs to drop players if there unfit or out of position which affects the team. His chosen Favourites is what's get him in bother from fans when we struggle.

I don’t have an issue with it tbf - we’ve been successful with it - but the last creative technical footballer we bought was Bruno four years ago. I don’t mean any of this as a criticism of Howe btw - Guardiola plays the same way he did a decade and a half ago. I like the way we tend to play under Howe. You might be right that he’ll never change, and eventually that could become a real problem for me. I don’t think trying to outrun teams for 50-60 games a season will work anymore, even the worst teams in the league are really athletic at the moment. Right now I trust Howe to realise that and try to address it though.

We currently have Tino and Trips capable of playing there also. Its just unfortunate that 2 out of the first 4 choices for full back are injured. There's only so much cover you can prepare for. andycap
Krafth love him or hate him never gets a look in when our fullbacks are lacking. Which is daft in my opinion he should be good enough to play as backup I'd have him in over burn at leftback.

He is as close to being Newcastle United as one man can be at this point for me. As long as you're happy you have the right man you stick with him through the good times and the bad. It'll be interesting over the next year or two as we hopefully get more depth and options how we evolve or do we rigidly stick with 433 and intensity. But it does feel like Alex Murphy isn't really up to it at this level so you have to question his future here.
TheBrownBottle
I still think Howe and his system are likely to bring more success, and at this point the squad is moulded completely in Howe’s image. Time is as usual needed for the new signings to bed in - and not all signings are going to work out.

The 6 has licence to roam, and it get us in trouble sometimes, like yesterday. We are vulnerable to spaces between our lines. It's always been there, not sure Eddie is going change now. And if I'm going to criticise Eddie that would be it, but we are where we've got to because of the system he loves. Rough with the smooth i guess. Not in terms of Ramsey, who I think is a Longstaff upgrade (with a Willock injury record) - but Woltemade is an interesting one, given he’s not a traditional centre forward by any stretch - but neither was Isak when we signed him. Whitley mag
Be interesting to see what he does when Wissa is fit. The current system doesn’t allow them both to play together, unless you move one of them wide. Not sure either will want to become the bench warmer and Woltemade’s start makes it very difficult to drop him now. The ideal scenario is Woltemade as a 10 which we just don’t play. I suspect if Elanga’s form continues we’ll see quite a bit of Wissa on the right.
