Two CL campaigns as well as being denied of Europe due to Man Utd beating Man City in the FA cup final.

Two League cup finals - with more than likely another two legged semi final this season coming up - not to mention barring a Trippier last minute howler at Chelsea, we’d have had a two legged semi vs Boro.

These two together with the wrongly awarded penalty against PSG was the difference between a "failed" and a good season. Margins are small. I think the penalty also took hard on us mentally. A win in that game and we would have momentum going forward.

If we're going to use the poll results as a yardstick for our supporters' feelings...shouldn't we be comforted by the huge 97% of people who think Howe should stay, and not worried by the tiny 3% who want him gone?

It seems mad to focus on the tiny minority.

Imagine how amazing the world would be if only 3% voted for the wrong decision. Currently about 55% are voting for the wrong decision

The team is going through a rough patch (relative to our recent successes), and Howe will absolutely fix it. It's comforting to know the majority have his back.

Nah not enough.

Everyone needs to be behind him 100% and believe that everything he touches here turns into a miracle.

When things turn against us there are always perfectly valid reasons why and nothing to do with his mismanagement, never.

I dunno if you’ve watched much football this season or not, but so is everyone else in the PL.

I think you’ve grabbed the wrong end of the stick brother. This was about his bedroom exploits, not his on-field preferences.

Nobody has said that. Most people have similar gripes about him (slow to integrate players, should rotate more, aversion to flair players etc) and some people (one person) have/has a bizarre vendetta against him because his nephew works for the club

The way I see it every manager has upsides and downsides but looking at it holistically he has done far more than a 'decent' job whether that's in the last 3.5 seasons or 2.5 seasons or whichever way you want to frame it.

Last season was the most successful in our recent history and he's generally had us performing well beyond the sum of our parts, so he deserves a lot of support while he navigates the latest challenges on the pitch and off it.

Howe has done an excellent job within the obvious confines of his job - and plenty mention PSR, but the reality is that this is a constraint against what’s possible.  You mention that his structure and beliefs don’t match ours - in what sense is this true?  Does the ownership seriously think that we should be challenging on all fronts while our revenue is further behind Spurs than it was when they bought the club (never mind the real elite clubs in the division)?

I’m at a loss as to how Howe is responsible for the club’s turnover in the way that is implied here - he’s met his end of the bargain with high finishes (which equals bonus payments) and two CL campaigns plus multiple cup runs bringing in greater revenue.  He’s being let down by an ownership which is asleep at the wheel and - while it came in talking big - has been an absentee landlord for some time now.  We’ve just fired the commercial ‘whizz’ we hired under Staveley because he proved to be yet another executive appointment who didn’t meet up to the promise.

There are definitely ways Howe can improve on what we’re seeing this season and there are ways of reasonably criticising what he’s doing - but we’re not going to reach what you’re talking about under any manager on the planet.  If the owners are actually serious (I have serious doubts that they’re prepared to spend the time and money required to get there) then it’s on them to get us there, not the manager.

no definitely didnt mean hes at fault for turnover, definitely not in his remit, apologies if it came across that way

You do realize that this is only the 5th time in the club's history that we've competed in the CL right? What you're talking about is one of the most difficult things in elite club football to navigate and I think we're managing our player load better than last time. The injuries to the FBs were freakish and we're much better placed to do well as the competition moves on.

As i said, his on the fiels achievements are remarkable, thats not what i question and in the position we are now in its right he isnt only judged on this

 Of course it is. How many windows have we had (PSR allowing) to build a squad to manage this? Compared to those that have.

if you think that PSR is the only reason we struggle then i dont think you understand the situation

They’ve had it wrong 2 summers in a row because they haven’t put in an effective leadership structure.

Or did they think reconciliation was a reasonable prospect and we wouldnt expect a DoF to be overlooked? I dont care how we get there as long as we get there. Would you rather didnt put money in and didnt give us the chance to sign some of the best players?

I mean it's all drivel and anyone voting "yes" is a tit but, fuck me, what on earth is this pile of fucking cack?

Bloke dove himself into ITU ffs 😂

is his nephew best in class or a considerable road block? Should we have attended the San Siro rather than eddie worry about people seeing his tactics when we train? Agent's and coaches who could have assisted us are blocked from the training ground due to paranoia. We were openly mocked by 2 agents in a very public setting this summer for how "small time" we look when doing business and this was a direct quote onto the manager.

hes the best coach we could get, hes not the best manager

It was obviously hyperbole, but actually not that far from the viewpoints of a few poster here.

what does this mean?

We've had 2 shitshow summers consecutively. because we haven't had a proper recruitment team in place. That's the fault of the Owners.

When Howe was close to the Celtic job I remember it being the director of football would be his mate, Richard Hughes, or he wasn’t going to take it. I don’t know about Ashworth but he didn’t want Mitchell at all so I don’t think it’s all on the club that a typical structure these days hasn’t been in place.

Think he’s earned the right to do things how he wants in some regards but it does mean any pressure will be on him quicker.

When was this recorded? Not sure I agree with Eddie that our last few performances have been 'pretty good' [emoji38]

Got to be before West Ham, Brentford - says Ramsey just coming back from injury

It became apparent in July that he can't

To me the next level is us being able to be going into the season confident we can be top 3 -4 every year and not thinking top 7 is where our realism is. The step after that is the title challenge.

I wholly dispute if it is available too. Our current model means it isnt and thats where i say i thin Eddie's structure and beliefs doesn't fit ours and where we want to be. As evidence, we cant have agents ring up and get his nephew nor can we have infighting about players that aren't up to the level i.e DCL or Lloyd Kelly. If we change the structure and EH is the coach with input only to signings i think we can reach that in 2 - 3 years with the new team we are bringing in, however i dont think that will ever happen and thats why the infamous Paul Mitchell rant came from when he said we were being run amateurish.

There is plenty of scope to up our revenue to crazy levels but it will take time, as Staveley said when she came in, its evolution and not revolution and everyone has to buy into that. I bang on about it all the time but when we chose to stay at home rather than train in the San Siro, our Champions League return, that should have been the moment the project always took precedent over the manager. That set us back and spending 45m on an unproven, injury prone english player is another example where we culd have gone for another Bruno or Sandro and pushed the first team on and in doing such growing the squad. Finally i dont think we can improve and grow whilst we don't rotate correctly and get players the minutes, we are chasing our own tail and wondering why

You ok mate?
