Propaganda? For recognising the reality of where we are in the season? I agree we’ve had plenty of poor performances, and plenty of things that everyone should be doing better, but it’s not remotely close to a shitshow, man. That’s just nonsense.

We’re 12th and already 11 points behind Villa having supposedly strengthened the squad. We’re horrible to watch, I never fancy us to score away from home, our set pieces are as bad as it gets at both ends and we’re always liable to concede. It’s a mess. Salvageable but it’s a mess.

Hypothetically, it might be better if there were to be a change that anyone coming in could work with the players and then decide on who is good enough to stay or who needs to be sold.

Hard to do that based on them running about in pre season getting fitness.

Good point. Think we’d have to be extremely dire (out of the cups/CL, treading water in midtable) towards the end of the season for them to move on from Eddie before the summer.

I think they would and I'd be surprised if it hadn't already been discussed. Time will tell though, as I said earlier they changed the women's manager, so they showed that they will if they feel things are getting out of control.

I'm sorry like but the women's team should not even be brought into the same conversation as this.

Nowt like an overreaction lads.

I have an alternative… we beat Fulham and Chelsea at home this week and all of sudden everything is back on track.

We know it’s a transition season… do we really need to throw shit around after every negative performance.

Why is it a transition season? We lost one player and spent a fortune on supposed upgrades. We have gone backwards and the coach doesn't appear to have a clue what to do about it.

Yeap, him winning the FA cup was a much bigger achievement than ours with the league cup.

No it wasn't  There's no need to compare really.

The League Cup might be seen as the 'junior' cup out of the two, but we played all of the current top 4 at the time we played each team to win it, Palace didn't play any until the final.

Glasner isn’t the answer. We need to be a bit more ambitious if we ever did make that change.

I disagree how isn't he the answer won things at his two previous clubs with not great backing either.

 i was thinking the same. That's a hell of a win percentage for Palace. But Howe has twice as many games at Newcastle. Suggests to me that Glasner is very promising. But I also agree with KI that he could well be our next flavor of the month.

It's like we been told to play stoically like all the best teams in the world do. You know, play the game, not the occasion and rely on pure footballing ability.

Problem with that is we don't have the players good enough to do that. The wingers in particular have been atrocious this season. We were at our best under Howe when we putting massive shifts in. Longstaff was running 12km a match or something a few seasons ago and even he looked decent.

That's not sustainable with Europe and the extra games but that's where we could have really done with nailing the recruitment in the summer so we could rotate with better players.

The thing that concerned me back in the summer was we wanted Delap, Ekitike, Pedro, Sesko and we've ended up with Woltemade. All different types of strikers so it's just like we're making do and I'm not sure Howe knows how to get these players to gel.

It's all a rudderless mess.

Bang on

I'm not pinning our hopes on one player, but he might make a difference. I don't see who is out there at the moment who we could bring in anyway, and why would we sack Howe when we still have quite a lot to play for this season?

Changing it at the moment is unlikely to bring much with it other than a ‘new manager bounce’.  We’ve got nowt to spend in January, and this is very much Howe’s squad - we’re over four years in now.  We’ve signed a bunch of runners who won’t run.

You know what I’ve just realised this season feels like? When Bruce was in charge. We try and defend, but aren’t very good at it and can’t create chances of our own if we have to. There have obviously been a couple of high points. But I’m back in that apathetic expecting nothing and being pleasantly surprised if we aren’t crap mindset I was back then.

It definitely was - and it’s a much bigger trophy.

That’s not the full story tho. EH saved us for almost certain relegation and got us in to Champions league 2 seasons out of 3 and won a trophy. So the Fa cup is a bigger season than the carabao? So what?

Howe should only be let go if we have someone better lined up.

If we were only playing domestic competitions, I don’t think there’s anyone better than Howe.

If we want to be in Europe every year, we need someone with proven European pedigree who knows how to balance league and Europe.

There aren’t too many of them out there, realistically.

It's about changing things when it's obvious that things are not going to the overall plan. Got fuck all to do that it's the women's team is the fact that the owners will have targets for the club as a unity.

I mean it clearly is a transitional season because there's been a lot of changes in the squad. Howe deserves stick for the fact we're not a well-functioning team but losing Isak automatically makes it transitional because he was unbelievably influential to us. Other ingrained members of the first team squad left too.

It's not an excuse, we theoretically should be better. But it's still a transitional season.

Agreed - it was a straightforward comparison between their achievements.  I think winning the cup with Palace is a massive achievement.

Yep. But he ended up having a great last season and we are still in the CL and the cup competitions. He's earned the credit in the bank as they say, so that's why he'll get the rest of the season to turn things round. I agree it doesn't look great though.

He’s ran out of ideas. We’ve had an unbelievable era, but the style of pure athleticism over technical guile isn’t going to cut it anymore for us.

We’re too easy to play against and too fragile to dig in.

We're not even showing athleticism either.

The other issue is who would come midseason? It’s just an utterly shit situation.

I really hope he does turn it around but then part of me knows we’re just going to be having the same conversation again at some point next season.

Who are the next batch of up and coming managers from Europe?

198 games vs 87

As I said earlier, let's see where Glasner is at that point. The league, budgets, and the quality of players teams have is extremely compressed and has been for a couple of years. Howe's having a wobble season and is still doing better.

It was nuanced albeit sarcastic. He is our second best performing manager in the PL era. We’re on about the same points per game this calendar year as previous years, despite the load and having to re-adjust striker wise. We’ve had two cup finals, two CL qualifications, and you’re thinking he should go? You can think that if you like, just like I can think that you should give your head a shake and/or grow a pair.
And know you’re playing the I should ban you card?  If that’s not abuse of ‘power’ I don’t know what is.

Abuse of power  fuck off man. Who's being a snowflake now?

I didn't say once "he should go". You should improve your reading comprehension before you go on the attack.

Nothing about your post or subsequent posts have been nuanced.

Pretending everything is rosey this season is absolutely mental, there are clearly major issues with our performances.
