We had literally no pre season with our current squad, and he had to chuck Woltemade straight in. Our first CL campaign wasn’t exactly straight forward either, very hard draw and then our injuries were shocking too. Other than Barcelona we haven’t looked second best against anyone this time. Every manager has to deal with problems, whether that's in the summer window, winter window, international breaks or just a random Thursday in February. It's not much of an excuse to just say the summer was turbulent or that our preparation was ruined by one single player. Having said all that I do think Howe has dealt with it as well as he could have done. It's not all entirely on him as to whether we sign players or not and I'd suspect he has less say than we all think he does. I feel he has slightly made a rod for his own back by over performing so much since he got here. Now, even when there's a brilliant, crushing performance in the champions league it just seems like somehow it's expected, or maybe it's just that there are no new superlatives to throw his way. Got it spot on yesterday, the players all seemed bang up for it too. Delighted for him, don't believe there is anyone out there who would do a better job. Personally I have been disappointed with our PL campaign, think it has been less than what I expected. Our football has been disjointed, we aren't playing with anything like the same fluidity as we have in previous seasons, but there has been a lot of disrupting factors, and I think the biggest was probably losing Wissa immediately after losing Isak. That's a pretty big hurdle chucked in our way so to still be in there with a shout of qualifying for CL is not too bad.
