You would have thought that he would try to play nice with the club so he stands a chance of having an inside scoop at some point, or to simply minimise his risk of never being allowed to ask questions again, and either being summoned back to Manchester or let go of. I think in reality Eddie intelligently plays to Luke’s ego. So Luke’s thinks they are friends. So when Eddie is under pressure, Luke never goes in on him.
