Nope just struggling with a knee injury I think it was he picked up while on internationals. Likely/hopefully his last season with us having had yearly extensions more than once now. The College Dropout
I would keep Trippier on Krafth's salary x1.25 for another year and buy another RB to challenge Tino. Like a proper challenger.

Surely we can't keep playing Trippier every 2/3 days until Tino is back, then back to the same problem of rinsing Tino 90mins every few days til we break him again. But if we do heavily rotate after Qarabag for Man City away, since we always get thumped there anyways and they are coming into form now. Do we go as far as resting some senior players for academy players and risk an absolute walloping, which could dent confidence being built up the last few games. Or do we go with the same tired players, try to grind out a narrow loss and then hope we don't pick up anymore injuries or suffer too much the knock on fatigue for the next game. It's tricky either way and I guess just have to accept that players need to keep playing and we'll deal with the consequences of more injuries if/when they happen? Miley into the mix at RB as well to get through until Tino's return ?

The main pre-requisite for being a back up is availability which he hasn’t had. Great servant but another who I hope we can replace with Shahar for next season given his involvement in the squad. Memphis
https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7052189/2026/02/18/newcastle-eddie-howe-tottenham-aston-villa-analysis/?unlocked_article_code=1.NFA.x1kJ.0K5_cLs6Mxd7&source=athletic_user_shared_gift_article_copylink&smid=url-share-ta Here’s a gift link to the latest from Caulkin. It's very good and again speaks to how highly-regarded Eddie is among the players and ownership. It also shows his unparalleled ability to communicate with and lead the group. Quote At the start of the following week, according to insiders, an article in The Athletic detailing the Seattle Seahawks’ victory in the Super Bowl on the Sunday night was distributed internally to Newcastle’s staff, telling the story of the NFL team’s unofficial motto for their 2025-26 season: “Mission over Bulls***.” It was a call to block out external noise. Mission over Bullshit. It has a ring to it. Quote Previously, Guimaraes’ absences have always been short, and so stop-gap solutions have been attempted. But, with the Brazilian now sidelined until April, Howe looked for a left-field alternative. Alongside empowering Tonali and bestowing greater responsibility on the Italian, in a bid to extract more from him, Howe repurposed a talented summer signing who had looked increasingly out of sorts. Sources say Woltemade has been training as a hybrid No-10-cum-No-8 — mainly at walking pace, given the lack of full-intensity sessions Newcastle’s hectic schedule has permitted — and, for now, Howe feels his creativity is better deployed deeper, particularly given Guimaraes usually provides ingenuity from midfield. Is Woltemade going to be Joelinton 2.0?
Abacus
This is the main thing to me about having a limited squad - there are arguably advantages in knowing what you have and then trying to make the best of them. There's been a debate about Woltemade's real position within our formation (9 or 10 or something else unique), and without Wissa's injury, you'd think it's likely his build up to a no 9 would have been more gradual than forced on us by circumstances. I still think he can be an effective 9 with time on the training pitch and also the team adapting the way we play around him and so looking forward to that next season. But for now we use what we have the best way we can.

OpenC
Aye, pretty sure that's how it's spelled in that context. Understandably nobody uses it any more and finds another way to say it instead Edited February 18 by OpenC

timeEd32
Unsurprisingly getting lost down the page after a third win on the trot. Eddie has added almost £15m to the club's coffers in the last week. We're probably going to lose on Saturday and I hope everyone can accept that since he's paid off his league placement debt.

Thats because there isn’t anything to comment on re that. We’ll never get more of a shoo-in away from home again. Unlike Villa at the weekend where the manager and team got all the credit they deserved, tonight was more of a professional performance against a terrible side.
