Dyeyzzon
Our best season from him was the 4th season. That was built on winning against the teams we were supposed to beat. I remember a stat about not losing a single game against bottom half opponents then. This season is the exact opposite, but unfortunately we're not pulling the results from the big games either. AyeDubbleYoo
I think the biggest problem is still the lack of top quality players in our squad. We’re just not able to reliably keep the ball well enough and pass it decisively enough to create that many good chances. And this is also the reason we can’t keep possession and really dominate a match. Probably with Bruno, Tonali and Mikey available we would look a lot more confident. You base decision off what he's able to achieve going forward. Aye, Howe deserves to be treated and talked about with respect for what he's done here. But the idea we should pretend he's good enough out of loyalty is completely crazy.

tgarve
15 minutes ago, NUFCDoog said: It all depends on how serious PIF and that are about us, im not convinced that they haven't lost interest. If they seriously want us to be competing he'll go this summer as finishing where we're likely to finish, with some of the results we've had are unacceptable. Losing twice to Sunderland wont mean anytbing to PIF mind, they'll be looking at overall, under Shepherd I think Howe would be gone tomorrow. But they'll see no Europe as a disaster and will sack him, go all out for a big name and authorise funds for the summer. If, as I suspect, theyre just not that arsed anymore, I imagine he'll stay, we'll sell a few players, have pittance to spend and just end up around mid table again. We've been a mid table team all season so its where we deserve to finish, my major worry now is that is what we're destined to be. All makes sense until the end we didn’t spend a pittance last season we literally have maxed out PSR and they’ve invested since they came in

Look at the relative tools at the disposal of the two managers today - that shitshow was the result of a disparity in quality in favour of Sunderland? And who signed those players? Kid Icarus
7 minutes ago, Milburn said: Mitchell left because he deemed a shortlist containing players such as Wissa ‘not fit for purpose’. Fake news AFAIK. Not fit for purpose was a quote from Summer '24 about the transfer strategy under Staveley and Ghodoussi. Where are the quotes about him and our shortlist? Optimistic Nut
I'm happy to see what he does with a fresh look to the squad with Ross Wilson alongside him this summer, but no problem whatsoever if the board don't feel that way. I think if he is going to go it'll be in this break though. Pointless keeping him until the summer if we don't see him as the person to oversee the next stage. Jesse Pinkman
Howe may be a young manager but I’ve seen no real willingness from him to try to adapt and improve. He plays the same shite 433 with wingers up top every week, and brings on Willock and Murphy every time. I am not sure where this young dynamic coach narrative is coming from? AngelofTheFourth
The people I find most frustrating are the ones saying “give him another season.” The reality is, we likely won’t even be in Europe next season so the same issues probably won’t come up anyway. But we can’t afford to keep bouncing in and out of European competitions like this. It’s not sustainable financially or competitively. Howe has clearly struggled when it comes to balancing UCL football, and that’s something we can’t ignore. So what’s the plan? Keep him for another season, then sack him whether he gets UCL or not?
