Genuinely feels like the middle of the end at this point. Teams are always a reflection of the manager and this team looks stale, tired and mistake-ridden. He's done an unbelievable job since he was appointed but I think this repair job is beyond him unfortunately - the volume and manner of the results and performances he's getting out of his squad are pretty pathetic. The whole identity of the squad has changed completely, the system has stopped working and, at this stage, Howe appears unable or unwilling to change things enough. He's had an awful lot of things go against him that are beyond his control but after a 3 week break to rest, recharge, organise and train the team for this match and to serve up the performance they did is utterly shit.

It was de ja vu and yet another dismal second half, not helped by passive management and poor reactive subs having watched his team cede control almost deliberately. He's not learning and he's not changing and it's not getting fixed this time imo. I think it's a matter of time now

I wish there were an 'I regrettably agree with' rather than a 'like' button.

We can hope to be a side that can win games against Crystal Palace and Sunderland though, right?

Well aye, of course. It's the blind expecting to that gets on my tits

We've been a bang average laughing stock of a club for fucking decades. The best we ever got labelled was 'sleeping giant', based on pretty much nowt except a passionate fanbase and being everybody's second favourite team years, decades ago.

I don't know what some of you lads and lasses have been watching all this time that makes you feel we can and should expect continuous year on year improvement, in a 'sporting' environment that goes out of its way to nullify in every way it can the one advantage we have, rich ownership.

I agree the 433 is infuriating. I agree the subs are Bobby Robson level predictable. I don't agree with sacking your manager due to one disappointing domestic campaign after he's saved us from relegation then routinely outperformed expectations in the league and gone deep into cup competitions pretty much every year.  Also agree that he's carrying the can pretty much single handedly for the ownership's complete lack of interest last summer and He Got Exactly The Players That He Wanted, which is patently not the case, is just the accepted narrative now.  We've changed, like.  Got our club back and lost our sense of perspective all at the same time.

This.

It's pure entitlement.  Wanting everything yesterday and unable to emotionally handle the ups and downs of supporting a football team.

Shows how much of a poor domestic campaign it has been.

Like the one we had before we turned it around in the summer and got a cup and CL spot.

I get it people want new shiny things every now and then. Shows how fickle and forgetful people can be.

I think the big difference is that season we missed out on Europe in 7th as Man utd won the fa cup and also didn't spend anything, this season we have spent £250m and sit in 14th.

Why, we qualified for the Champions League, we should expect to beat newly promoted clubs and those perennial mid table wankers.

Playing Osula over Woltemade and Wissa opens up the question of did Eddie tell the club we couldn’t perform at the same level if we sold Isak with the options available. Tim foil hat on and all that but he may have said keep him and he will act like a professional once the window closes.

Ok, so you had no point and nothing actually to discuss.

Thought so.

Yes I had a point. You asked if it got bumped wich it does regularly. How many posts there are is a different matter.

If he sorts the goalkeeper position out, defence and gets a striker in, we are walking it with no Europe comps.

What we've done historically is totally irrelevant in 2026. We had a reset in 2021. We've spent over £700m on new players since then. This isn't the Newcastle United of the 1980s that I grew up with in a crumbling wreck of a ground where you got soaked unless you could afford to pay for a seat, having to sell any asset who was worth a few quid. We're up with the big spenders now. We should be better than a 14th placed club bit we are there and we deserve to be there. People need to move away from that little old Newcastle mindset and think bigger.

Do you actually know what entitlement means ?

You seem to use it so much but don’t seem to fully understand the definition of the word and what it means to act in an “entitled” way.

Which is less than a tenth.  Like I originally said.

We've been bought by rich and powerful owners. We've been told we'll be at the top. They've spent accordingly. We've been charged accordingly.

But some of you say we're "entitled" to expect improvement and to beat newly promoted sides. Or at least show passion when playing our local rivals.

Entitlement would be expecting to win the league. Not expecting to see out a game after we take the lead.

Well, because that's how football works.  The other teams that routinely qualify for the Champions League aren't subject to the same anticompetitive restrictions that we are.  Everybody is in the Premier League because they're pretty good at football.  I don't expect to beat anybody, least of all the fucking mackems

Based on the reaction today we were just expected to stroll up today at Selhurst Park and get the three points.  Would have been the same at 1-1.

So your saying that the opinions on Eddie are only valid if the thread about PIF has the same amount of traffic?

No.  Someone was arguing that the same amount of criticism is levelled at PIF as it does Howe.
