Without a doubt he is a NUFC legend and a sacking wont change that. But this happens at top clubs all the time. A manager does great things but then goes stale and he inevitably gets the boot.

Sacking Eddie will not cloud his legacy in the long term if he goes now. He's the guy who broke the trophy jinx and this shitshow of a season where he has ran out of ideas wont be able to put a stain on that.

I think it's far more likely he walks or it's a mutual thing. I get the desire for change, particularly after such a poor season overall, there's always a natural end for any manager but i'd just be scared stiff who it would end up being. We got lucky in the first place getting Howe after we sank our chances at Emery and Howe was available and refreshed and ready for the challenge.

Ah, okey then lets go without one for the foreseeable future [emoji38].

We had a DOF but he fell out with Howe after a public clash. Last summer's signings had Howe's fingerprints all over them, if only because Mitchell left before we made any of them.

That was not the point.

I'm not confident in who we'd choose as the replacement either but that still doesnt sway my belief that Howe has to go.

If they go for Mourhino as the replacement then we can safely say that they don't have a foggiest how to run the club going forward.

And on that point, I am in total agreement. Trouble is, do PIF actually know their collective arse from their elbows and will we be pissing in the wind looking for a manager after the top few have had their pick of the best available?

Absolute legend but clear as day he can’t get a tune out of them anymore for me. Bloke deserves a statue and has been the best manager in basically all of our lives - including me fatha who’s 66.

Does he deserve a shot to sort it? Probably.

But he absolutely can’t have a free reign in the summer. He should have a say but not the say, it’s the way football works in 2026.

Today was literally a carbon copy of 90% of every game this season, I wasn’t shocked at all. We could quite easily lose every game we have left and I wouldn’t be shocked either.

There were people saying we could win 6/7 before the Palace game man, I’m sure people haven’t been paying attention this season.

Well surely it's Hopkinson who will be in charge of that. We are likely about to find out how good at his job he actually is.

I think this is why I advocate for him to be given the opportunity to operate under a proper structure and be given a chance to right things. We can't judge the chaos of last summer and subsequent mess of a season that resulted from it and put it all on him. If he's given that chance and it goes pear-shaped, we and he all know the outcome.

Completely agree

My head says definitely no. The way we’re finishing the season only reinforces the same concerns and weaknesses. I could’ve been convinced otherwise if we were finishing with real momentum and optimism, but we’re not.

The last thing we can afford is a Ten Hag situation at Man Utd, where you give it more time, things don’t improve, and you end up pulling the trigger before Christmas anyway.

Yeah and we don't know much about him at all, his exposure to what we need, the data we have to give him in the search, his ability to lure the right man etc. It's not clear cut at all. What's his track record in head coach recruitment and everything that comes with that? If we're going down this road, it would be nice to know he's got the nous and the means to attract the right bloke. Sometimes with the desire for change, it can cloud what you already have.

Think he sorts the mess out in the summer.  One game a week, he gets us back into Europe.

He's sorted out issues with the team in the past, have total faith.  Just needs some patience.

From press conf

"I can only pick within the system that i play,Which is only one striker"

Not sure what the question was but the system has been played out and predictable for a while now

Please sort it out

Our wingers today were especially terrible.

That's the sort of nonsense quote a manager who knows he's under pressure gives.

We don’t know if he can do it but we also don’t know he can’t do it.

Might ditch Eddie and wake up next to a stinker. Might ditch Eddie and get a proper glamma thing.

The question was asking about Wolt and not brining him on earlier. He responded with Osula was doing well, 2in2 , only plays one striker etc

Aye, one thing that rarely gets considered is that Eddie might be fucking sick of NUFC and looking for a way out. And there’ll be millions of quids at stake if he’s fired rather than walks.

Could have chucked Will on the right i thought.Scored goal of the season coming from the right and not seen him there since

Instead its Murphy who does the exact same system crap as Elanga like drifting into the centre

Miggy & St Maxi were like Garrincha compared with these two

If the club's leadership have been paying attention this season and they're still content to give Eddie the warchest to rebuild the squad this summer then they can do us all a favour and drop the act that we're trying to be a serious football club.

The recruitment since 2023 has been woeful and the damage that the summer 25 window caused could set us back years if we don't get the next one absolutely pitch perfect. The squad needs ripping up and starting again, frankly there's far too much to do in just 1 window

The usual caveat of I love Eddie, he's a legend, best manager of my lifetime etc etc applies here

Pretty certain the lad who said we’d only get 4 points from the remaining games got howled at and cyber “tarred and feathered”. Forgot who it was but he’s fucking Nostradamus based on what we’ve done in the two games since.

It's what I took from yesterday's presser. People were commenting that he had the fire back in his belly but I read it that he was not going to go without getting the usual pay off. He's a man of great integrity but he's not the excessively nice guy that is painted. In my mind I do think he knows he is done here and it was just a case of a final "fuck you, we are done, so pay me off then".
