Elanga is just so shit. How on earth did we settle on him being an adequate signing?

He looked pretty good last season and unplayable against us.

Whole situation is just really sad

It was all totally avoidable had we implemented a footballing structure at the club that was fit for purpose

A DoF is and should be above the manager - in our structure the manager has too much influence and is seemingly above the DoF - it causes poor decision making do to a lack of alignment.

We went, 4 windows without strengthening the first XI or even signing a player? That’s unacceptable

We are paying the price for this lack of footballing strategy now, which in itself is now going to cost us at least 2 years in terms of a total rebuild

Whoever was responsible for the shitshow and signings in summer 2026 needs to go if they are still here - this includes the people involved in identifying the duds we signed and the person who signed off the spend

Simply unforgivable

PL proven. Great athlete. Literally don't think Eddie sees far beyond that.

He can’t really have any complaints if he’s moved on. With the amount that’s been spent, failing to qualify for Europe should come with consequences.

i fucking hate this stick that gets handed down, Spent? compared to what other teams have over the 14 we haven't and cant just rinse and recycle like they can? Get fucked

He did, but that was in a team set up to sit deep and counter, with plenty of space for him to work in. Put him in tight areas though, and he looks completely out of his depth.

Starting to think it’s Howe’s mismanagement

Just need to look at what he's done to Woltemade to suggest this certainly could be a factor, I think where Elanga is concerned though I think he's just very limited more than anything else.

I’ve said it before but whoever signed off spending £55m on him and then £55m on Wissa should be sacked on the spot.

Absolute shite the pair and could be devastating enough to set us back a couple of years in the world of PSR. Shocking business.

The whole world and his dog knew we needed a technical left footed winger to play on the right

Woltemade and Wissa - totally the wrong profile (and age) - 55m for that piece of trash - I simply cannot fathom that signing and it does nothing but infuriate me

Kind of feels that this all started to unravel, with Isak apparently downing tools after the cup final. There's been positives since then of course (cup runs/CL), but we've mainly regressed too. Almost like the momentum the club has built over the last 4 years has been pissed away.

Do people realise that 14th would be the worse league position we have had since we got promoted?

Our worst non-Ashley Premier League season (worse than even most of of those)

Still none the wiser really about who is responsible for our disastrous summer transfer window. Who signed off on Elanga, Wissa, Woltemade etc?

My impression is that Eddie's quite narrow minded on transfers (as well as tactics) and was given too much influence by the board/owners, which is naive and unacceptable on their part. As others have said, to leave us without a functional DOF was a major cock up, and Eddie just stepped in to fill the void.

So the manager has no responsibility for the results in the pitch?

Didn't say that, but I have more confidence in Howe getting it right with a little rebuild than another manager magically fixing lacklusture performances, weak mentalities and poor decisions. Besides, a new manager would require time and a rebuild to get "his team" anyway.

Those defenders you list give goals away for fun this season.

They're not getting much help from those in front of and beheind them either.

Becoming untenable that was disgraceful today. All his signings bar Murphy and Miley today, how the fuck Murphy’s still playing for us beggars belief.

Go into next season with him in charge and we’ll be fighting relegation, the writings on the wall.

I don’t think anyone denies this TBH. But why should this season set the rule just because it’s the most recent?

For me it’s because he’s doing nothing to address it. The same formation, the same reactive subs, we conceded the same goals we always do, passes astray all over the shop.

I will never ever forget what Howe has done. He will be a man that I tell my kids and grand kids about, but nothing at all is being done to address the issues we face.

You can only use the present to gauge the future imo.

I think the ex DoF leaving at the start of the summer doesn’t get enough focus

he ahould have seen us through one window at least especially after being here for a year without a signing, he had plenty of time to get things in order

leaving us in the lurch meant it was all downhill from there
