It’s still no excuse for how disinterested he seems though.

Which, and I'm not saying its right, is probably a result of how was used on his return from Injury, and not getting a proper run in the side.

He probably thought as soon as he was available, he'd get meaningful minutes, but after he was basically rotated with Woltemade from the off.

Its no excuse for a shit attitude (if that is the case) and being disinterested, but he's never been given the chance to get properly up to speed in the team.

I don’t see how his position (being dropped) under Howe changes now , I really don’t - I don’t think the manager knows how to use him

It could well just be Howe being Howe.

Been really encouraged by his last couple of pre match press conferences. Obviously need to see improvements on the pitch to go with it mind.

He's always been a brilliant talker.

I always think the whole training ground line is a bit of a cop out for managers as there is no way we can tell if they are telling the truth or just don’t want to pick the player.

Brucey used to say the same about Schar

Yeah, it's just a line. Obviously true to some extent, if a guy looked like Messi in training he probably would be picked. But it doesn't mean much.

I hate these quotes. There is no accountability for his inability to give them a role and minutes in this team. It isn't as though they're being kept out by players in form.

Can you name any of them that come on and improve us or prove a point that they should be in the team?*

They have their own autonomy to prove themselves in that respect like. Howe gets pelters for his subs, but I don't think you can fault the variety of his starting XIs, while there have been players in and out of form the XI in those positions has changed (presumably with players who've stepped up in training)

*The one that I could name is Osula and he's been rewarded with starts.

Difficult to make an impact when they're generally being thrown on as a reactive sub, when we're chasing the game (or its gone already), and being expected to make an impact with around 15mins left... or seconds, in Wissa's case.

It’s a collective shit show from all involved

The person who signed off Wissa deal - if still at the club should be sacked

I am not bothered if time was running out in the market - how in gods name can you not work that you are paying way over the odds for these players - it’s damn right negligence

Oh what a perfect world we'd live in if every single signing was perfect every time.

Sometimes, signings don't work out. You dont just sack everyone.

Joelinton is the best example. If you have a little patience, players can come good. If not, then collectively, you work on it to try to avoid the same mistakes again.

Exactly, our barometer as fans is what we see during the match, when you see players jogging back last Saturday, I would prefer he starts judging players on their performances when it matters.

When you drop £250m on 5 players and at times 4 of them are on the bench due to performance/attitude or just basic incompatibility it goes beyond the odd ‘duff signing’.

Last summer’s window could put us back 3/4/5 seasons. The ineptitude was staggering and heads still need to roll.

There's been some great players over the years who were notoriously bad trainers but their managers overlooked that because when it really mattered, out on the pitch, they would deliver.

It is an easy line for Howe to trot out but on the flip side if what he is alluding to isn't the case, if I'm Wissa I'm probably speaking out at this stage to say I'm training as hard as I can.  Not like he can get punished with less game time is it.

Sounds like Osula starting again based on Eddie's comments

Not all that interested in pointing fingers or even working out who is to blame, but this is a pretty shambolic state of affairs like.

Sounds like Wissa has just signed for a big pay day and has retired. Nick has lost faith in the club and is just going through the motions (loves a Babucho scran and a walk around town after being told he’s not starting)

I thought that it had been well established that we didn't have the appropriate team in place last summer to do things properly but now we have, this summer should hopefully be better ?

We all watch the matches and the general joke is about how Howe makes changes on 60 minutes. That's at least half an hour to show something.

Who do you mean as well? Woltemade? Because it's only very recently that you could say he's not been given enough of a chance to show anything. The less said about Wissa's contribution when he was actually on the field the better.

I had the worst spaghetti carbonara of my life there, probs when it first opened... He deserves to be dropped if he can't find better scran in the city than there

To be fair most of those matches listed there he was playing in centre midfield.

I do wonder about the declared ambition of the club at this point. If they are ready to go with Howe again for next season, then either they accept responsibility for that disastrous window, or maybe they think they've spent the money, now it's up to the manager to get results.

Obviously this season has been a disaster, but they might just be happy to sell players and trade for another season, even if we finish 10-14th.

I couldn’t imagine Asprilla being arsed in training.

4 out of the 21 he played in midfield. That whole Woltemade in midfield thing is really overstated like.

You'd be surprised! Plus I'll bet he would always show something that proved he was top drawer... Plenty of anecdotes from players confessing to how much he twisted them up in training but training was probably more fun back then too!

Plus you could argue that his back catalogue of hits playing at the sharp end of Serie A give him a lot more leeway than the majority or all of the current squad
