What penny do they need to drop though? Surely everyone sees we're in rotten form?

That we should part ways with Howe in the summer. There’s no chance he’s turning this around and delaying the inevitable is going to cost us big style next season.

As someone who would probably make the change In the summer you can't say that man.

At this point nobody knows if he can turn it around if given the summer.

I can certainly say people sitting on the fence will doubt  him more with each passing defeat. It’s a results business and as our record gets worse the pressure intensifies each week, both in the media and with fans.

Spoke to few people at work this week who are staunch Howe and are now wavering.

And if he picks things up in the next few games? Obviously it's a a result business and imo both our fans and ownership have been patient this season.

My issue with your earlier post is your are categorically stating he can't turn it around and this isn't known.

I don’t surely need to put in my opinion after every post? Of course that’s in my opinion, I don’t think he can, it’s gone too far his pressers in last 2 weeks just confirm he’s stubborn and doubling now on his approach, not really a sign things will change next season.

Fair enough, I don't put any stock in pressers personally it's just gum flapping.

I think I was one of the first to layout at the stage I'd let him go (if the season were to end right now id be pulling the trigger) but even then I do have a tinge of it's Eddie he can turn it around. You don't have that?

No it’s gone too far for me, might eat my words if we win 3 of last 5 but can’t see it.

I accept every manger can have a bad season but not to this level of fall off and particularly after spending a quarter of a billion in the summer. It’s untenable and it’ll end badly by late September, early October if he remains.

Support the team. Not the regime.  Only went during Ashley to meet me mates. Better than shopping with our lass. Etc.

It was inevitable that we’d end up with sections of a support base with delusional aspirations.  And still none of them can name a valid replacement.

This terrible season has had us in the Champions League and canny runs in cup competitions.
Not bad for a club whose place for the last 50 years has primarily been  mid-table/relegation battle/second division.

For me it’s down to these last five games. More flailing performances, more losses and I wouldn’t want to take the risk of the rot running into next season and sinking more £100ms into “his” players.

If Eddie can get a tune out of them vs. Brighton, Forest, West Ham and Fulham, it’s a degree of faith restoration and he should get the rebuild.

Nothing delusional about finding being 14th at this stage of the season unacceptable given the our budget.

Aye, same position for me. I also think the club will view it the same.

No, I don’t understand. You are saying Howe should be credited as the architect for last season success, I.e. he deserves most of the credit. Fine. Then this season you say there’re a lot of factors that Howe  shouldn’t be accountable. You are blaming the management and the players. So you are in fact saying the management and the players didn’t deserve that much credit last season.

Man.

You're simultaneously talking out of your arse whilst putting words in my mouth.

I've been bleating on for months and months about what I consider to be the principal reasons for our failures this season. I'm not going to bore everyone with them again, but suffice to say I personally afford the manager and the vast majority of the players a fair amount of grace.

Eh?  We qualified for this seasons CL last season.  Totally irrelevant to how terrible this season has been  (and it HAS been terrible)

It hasn’t been terrible like. It’s been poor. There been some decent performances amongst the mediocrity

2016 was terrible

I would just put it straight: I don’t like your double-standard

Not a fan of the whole "if he takes credit for success, he has to take criticism for failures" thing. And that's as someone who has been on the fence with Eddie this season.

It's a reductive way of looking at it, it depends on the underlying reasons behind the successes and failures.

It's not a double standard when the contexts are vastly different. Honestly man.

I don't have double standards, man.

I really am loathe to open this can of worms again but my view is that our whole season has been designed to fail by the financial structures we're beholden too. Throw on top of that the virtually unmanageable schedule (for a squad of our size), relentless injuries to critical players and Wissa's absolutely disastrous output and the domestic campaign has just never got going. Now we're facing a perfect storm of confidence being in tatters + nothing tangible to play for, meaning the relaxed schedule is literally too little, too late.

Howe isn't unaccountable but he isn't the architect of the downfall; he's just failed to halt the slide. So going back to my original post in this, saying "he's going to get us a 16th/17th placed finish" is fucking stupid.
