And the relevance of that is what exactly? Muppet.

Despite an underwhelming season, I find him being the most successful manager in both of our lifetimes kind of relevant, myself. Madness I know?

Maybe you've got a shorter memory than me, you flakey berk?

A.I, howeh. Tell it it's wrong (it's included his Bournemouth spend there btw)and see what happens (it'll start by saying something like "you're right to call me out...") Or just go to transfermarkt as an actual source.

But it's an irrelevant comment in that case.

I merely replied directly to your question.

You said that pretty much to play down his achievements, otherwise it was a worthless comment.

Not even close.

The ones that think big clubs will come knocking on his door the day he leaves Newcastle are in for a surprise.

I don’t think Eddie’s been able to figure out how to make the team work this year. Elanga not playing and Murphy taking his place is the clearest admission of a failed transfer we’ve ever had with Howe. Elanga and Wissa were billed as players that would come in, immediately improve us and not need a lot of time to bed in. Obviously Wissa has had an injury but I always felt it would be a terrible transfer. Those two have massively fucked our season. I don’t think he wanted Woltemade as he has few of the qualities Howe looks for in a player, other than height. It’s up to Howe to figure out how to make it work with Woltemade and it’ll be an indictment on him if he can’t make it work as Wolte has the talent to be a success in this league, just not as a number 9

We’ve had an aging defence, with Schar, Burn and Trippier all playing lots of minutes still.

We’ve been fucking awful on the wings all season. Hot and cold Anthony, Barnes only really able to play in the final third, and Murphy and Elanga being the chuckle brothers on the right (with no laughter track).

Perhaps most concerning is the fact that our much lauded midfield hasnt been remotely up to expectations and when Howe’s tried to make changes to it in terms of personnel it hasnt really ever worked.

I still back him and I’m desperate for him to perform next season. However, he needs to back Woltemade as a 10. He needs to fuck Wissa and Elanga off and get some actual technically gifted players in the squad. We need Miley and Bruno in midfield with Tonali. If Tonali goes, we need a technical footballer in there. The only place we need more athleticism is at the back because we’re so reliant on Thiaw for recovery pace

These do not include add-ons.

But lets use a revised figure of 700 million for the sake of any disagreements, my original point still stands.

No other Newcastle manager has spent 700 million pounds.

Makes no difference. He's hit his ceiling and won't take us any further. The successful clubs always know when to peddle the manager. And that time is now with this one.

A year ago I think he'd have been nearly top of most lists. I reckon he has another 1-2 years here and goes to his boyhood club Everton next after Moyes finishes, before eventually going to England.

But it's not downplaying his achievements when he started with a squad that probably cost 30-40% of those clubs, he's spent the same or less, yet it's only Man City & Arsenal he's not finished higher than at some point.

The first £200-250m at least would have just closed the gap a bit on those clubs before they even began to spend more than we have even since then.

I know people saying we were only 5 points off Europa Conference or we played 58 games etc, we finished below Brighton Bournemouth Fulham and Brentford and Sunderland who did the double over us, they also qualified for Europa League. We lost 17 games. Eddie is my favourite manager and an absolute class act but I think if we want success our mentality has to change with it.

I’m so  tired of hearing Europe and the number of games used as an excuse for this fiasco, as if competing on multiple fronts is somehow impossible after spending well over £800m on players.

We’ve played two more games than Aston Villa this season. Difference is they won the Europa League AND qualified for next season’s Champions League through finishing 4th in the league. Meanwhile we’re almost being told that 12th place was some unavoidable act of fate because of “everything that happened”.

On some things, Howe is genuinely starting to irritate me on Alan Pardew / Steve Bruce levels.

No-one would be criticising (ok, some would) if he’d spent that and was just finishing behind Man City and Arsenal

Look at who have (deservedly) finished above us.  It is absolutely inexcusable, and every excuse offered throughout the season has disappeared like snow in the summer.  No manager in football gets a ride this easy

Finishing below the teams 6-11th (bar Chelsea) is inexcusable yes.

I think what makes today worse was that last week was one of the few times we look like we'd clicked with the 4231 formation. We actually played good football and let the ball do the work.

Then today he switches it all round to go 532 and every player was clueless how to implement it.

Yep my long-held belief is that Everton is where he’ll end up when he’s sacked here & Moyes goes. A big club no doubt, but never bought into the position that the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool etc would be interested.

Some of the fickle cunts we have as 'fans' nowadays, irritate me far more than Bruce/Pardew to be fair.

Another one to add to the list.

No other Newcastle manager has spent 700 million pounds.

Why would you assume add ons? No one does that with transfer fees.

And that's inflation for you, Shearer and Ferdinand alone in todays money would be £300m+ alone.

And as I say, we got something for the money spent, dunno why that keeps getting ignored.

We were very much between a rock and a hard place last year I think, though. The whole Isak farce aside, we were targeting players to take us the next step to challenge the big 4-5.

We could have went for the Bournemouth/Brentford/Sunderland model, finished 7th, gave ourselves a nice oat on the back and moved on, but I think Pif expect more than that. We might have to adopt that model now.

I'm not his biggest fan currently but net spend is little skewed because of the serve lack of investment before he arrived. The squad needed and still needs a big overhaul. Would like to see wages included when compared to the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal etc as that's the main factor why last summer was such a disaster.

Ok I'll just concede to all your arguments and points, all of them.

We play shit football mate.

Simple as that really.

Now do squad values/costs in September 2022.
