Kieran Trippier: has a chance to play against Everton (Howe)

Recommended Posts

He’s been a mess in his personal life for ages, well over a year.

He tried to force his own move away in the summer by going to Dubai off his own back.

We should have sold him last Jan, we need to be far more ruthless with sales imo.

As I say, there was an internal fall out yesterday. I have no idea how big it was and I have no idea if they’ll resolve it.

But he definitely wasn’t ill tonight.

It's really disappointing if he's let his personal problems ruin his football to this extent TBH. I know all footballers are human but it seems a very extreme situation.

Maybe he just doesn't have the desire anymore.

What was the fall out over? Seems odd to kick off in december I'm sure the club is happy to peddle him in January.

That being said, if he wants away without a dee he might have a issue

I've always been a big fan of Trippier the player but honestly even through the good times I'd watch his interviews etc and whilst on the surface they seemed great and he was saying all the right things I always felt that there was something a little off about him, like he didn't truly believe what he was saying. I don't know I could be way off but that's what I felt.

I think he's just not naturally a stable guy. By his own words it took a lot of work from himself and others to get him to where he got. You hope for the best and want a happily ever after, but in the back of your mind you know it's not guaranteed.

Real shame, best signing made under the new ownership imo in terms of his impact.  Pity how it’s ending for him here

Might just be me but it seemed like he was the catalyst for Eddie's great escape from almost certain relegation. An international, a professional footballer, a leader on the pitch and off. Even though he got hurt it seemed to change the vibe (as viewed from way outside). No idea what happened to him but it sure is sad.

North of around 4M in wages since the January Bayern bid, not really seen much return on that have we?

Him and Almiron would've bought in around 20M in transfers, and we could've saved around 7M in wages when neither player has contributed much to be honest. We really need to be better sellers.

If we are being honest the amount of mistakes he made that cost us goals probably cost us Europe

Yeah, Everton, and another club I forgot, plus against Chelsea we would have got a League Cup semi-final tie against Middlesbrough.

Was there ever a serious bid for Almiron? Saudi was never an option for him.

He was an excellent signing no doubt but he has let us down massively these last few months, said at the time but he should have been sold to Bayern last January, would have helped a lot with all that PRS carry on last summer as well and all the unsettling it caused .

We’re not getting a fee for him if he wants out of England. If it’s to a prem club, could get say £2m, because someone down the bottom will see that being recouped by getting safety and a position or two up the table. No-one abroad paying a fee so we’d be best to let him go for £0.

Considering he wasn’t giving captaincy in summer, surprised we didn’t try and get him gone then? Or could it be Howe wanted him still, then as the months moved on, it’s turned out he’s not been recoverable.

How many points were his ten assists worth?

Good question, but I was just lumping on the loss of European football to what we lost our in transfer fees and saved wages.

Hes been good for us anyone suggesting otherwise isn't serious but holding on too long (as we have Wilson, Miggy, etc) means the price is higher than people realise.

Probably less than you expect, sure a big chunk of them 10 assists came in that 8-0 win against Sheffield United . He has been poor for the best part of a year now.

He had a poor run of games in December last year, making a few high profile errors. This was at a time, too, when every other available player was also absolutely dead on their feet. Otherwise we've been a significantly better team whilst he's been in it.

His problem is off the field, not on it, and our quality has significantly reduced with him out of the side.

I respect your opinion your memory is likely better than mine.

From what I recall his form wasn't great throughout most of the second half of the season. I agree offensively he offers/offered a lot but defensively I think Tino is a much safer bet.

Would you hang on to him out of interest?

I don't think he was his best, but he certainly wasn't poor and remained a key player for us when he was playing.

I would be looking to let him leave in Jan, sadly.

He was very poor for me. Easy to glaze over because of him being competent in a set up that meant little defending for England in summer, but even in the final start for us last season he was bad.

Showed that he can’t come back in after games out and be the same guy, because he was so rusty and Man Utd took advantage. And when you are at that stage, it’s either an expensive coach or move on. People wanted the experience and as it turns out this season, that’s no where to be seen.
