Strange Dortmund have gone for Bellingham as I read on RTG just before their play off win that he’d only had ten good games for them. They’re going down regardless. Straight down with no drama, no fuss. It’ll be nine months where no one even registers their presence. The PL has gotten immeasurably better since they were last here and they don’t have anything like the tools needed to even compete for a spot between 15th and 17th.

If you’re factoring in increased wages for being in the PL, you probably have to consider the substantially increased revenue they’ll get just for being there.

 

Not that either are directly relevant to how much they’ve made from selling Bellingham.

I have noticed that they've already assumed that they're banking the whole fee, ignored the currency it's being paid in and all of the add-ons have automatically been triggered too before he's actually signed the deal. It's almost like they need to pump the fee to make themselves feel a bit better

 

And yes, I'm sure loads of our idiots have done the same thing with the Lloyd Kelly transfer too. Football fans are ridiculous at times

It's incredibly petty. They bought the guy for £3M and sold him for almost 8x that. We classed Minteh as a great bit of business, I doubt people were talking about Osula's fee when we sold Minteh ffs.

Sticking exclusively with the ‘youngsters with potential’ route will almost certainly get them relegated unless they scout some real good ones (generational talents you might say…) from somewhere.

 

So how far do they shift to more established players in an effort to keep themselves up?

I think they'll keep on investing in youngsters - even it it means relegation at the end of the season. Re-sale value and having a good enough team to come straight back up from the Championship. Has to be their model, IMO - same as other promoted sides.
