If we've got that little faith in Dubravka and Karius, I'm not sure why we're keeping them both.

You don't often have to go half a season without your main keeper, like. For short-term injuries they're perfectly fine. Bit different when it's over half a season?

Understandable, but then we could just have one of them and get the - apparently necessary - upgrade when the window opens. Bearing in mind we've got Gillespie and others lurking about too.

What's the point of having Karius and Gillespie if we NEED to get someone in, in the event that Dubs MAY get injured. Why would they want to be here if they knew they wouldnt even get a chance if the player in front of them was unavailable?

Should we just scrap having a squad all together and just buy/loan replacements when needed?

The same reason you have Dummett and Ritchie in the squad, they are alright for a short term stand in for the odd game but you would not want to rely on either for any period of time, especially when you have a transfer window where you can do something about it.

Difference being that Dummett and Ritchie aren't the back-up. They are the back-up to the back-up, like Karius and Gillespie.

Yes, but if Schar and Botman were out for the season then you would expect the club to go out and get a replacement, rather than relying on Dummett as first choice.

He's one of the main two that if you ignore just those two people this place sings.

Oh and make sure to turn on dark mode, you almost never see their ignored posts, they just blend into the background.

[emoji38] Yep, exactly. Can’t believe how much better the place is by just silencing an absolute weapon. [emoji38]

Ah nice tip, cheers

Not necessarily. Depends on when in the season and how many games we're playing. We got Lascelles and Burn coming back soon to step in with Krafth and Dummett as back-up to them.

If Schar and Botman was out for the season now then yeah I would hope they would get someone in.

At GK we only have one injury though, with three back-ups.

Why has he found no club in 6 months? Dubs and Karius must be given a chance or it sends the wrong message. Unless they plan to sell/let one go in a January!

In fairness, the article does say Dubs will be given a chance over the next 7 games.

Personally think we have two of the better backup GK's in the league. Don't see any point in a Ramsdale type signing, it has to either be a younger talent, or someone that's a big upgrade on Pope, which would just be an annoying amount to spend in Jan when we have way more important issues to deal with.
