You can bet your bottom dollar if it was any of their other favourite 4 - Spurs, Arsenal, Liverpool, Man Utd - they’d avoid it too. Us or City?

It's not that surprising really. The cartel clubs are practically the PL authorities paymasters.

The club needs to rethink the strategy, they’re obviously targeting premier league proven going by the reported targets such as Joao Pedro, Elanga, Mbeumo, Guehi.

Offering 45m for Elanga when Forest value him at £60m plus and don’t need to sell to make it happen you have to overpay (I’m not saying he’s worth overpaying for but as an example).

If we’re unwilling or unable to overpay then why are we wasting time?

Appreciate with Joao Pedro the player wants Chelsea and us paying the fee Brighton want is irrelevant but the point stands in general. Need to take some risks in the European market as we’ve done in the past.

I think Paul Mitchell said something about it our transfer strategy but I can’t quite remember..

Paul Mitchell also delivered sweet fuck all in his time here mind. Admittedly, mind, no one knows the details of why...

Most of the anger I have isn't about missing out on Joao Pedro - I don't like him or think he's particularly good + don't think Pedro/Delap/Gitten improve Chelsea - but it's the pattern of repeatedly embarrassing ourselves with these transfer sagas. Even the one we're buying, Trafford, has basically taken a year.

The one positive is that maybe our lot are finally forced into turning attention to the continent.

This was my least favourite way for us to spend £60m. Rather have 2 players from outside of the PL and gamble that way, than £60m on a stroppy player who doesn't nailed a place in the xi.

From everything I've read we fucked him over a bit the first time. Everything was ready to go and then Wilson got injured and we bailed last minute and pivoted to Isak. Probably should have signed them both in hindsight.

Anyway, his whole getting suspended by his club for fighting with a team mate, swinging elbows at people schtick does make him feel like more of a Chelsea player so on to he next one. Then when Chelsea sign him, on the the next one. Eventually they won't notice when we bid for someone.

The concern for me is that we seem to once again to be failing to do due diligence.  Everyone and his granny seemed to be aware that the lad wanted to be in London except for our transfer team.  Not a good look.
