You need to add context. His comments have come about because a) he was sent home and b) after a conversation with howe on his future.

mad ostrich behaviour to not acknowledge something is wrong

Agreed - I’m trying best not to be a bed wetter.. but…

why send him home? If he sits alongside Joelinton and Howe clarifies it’s game time afterwards, then scrutiny almost disappears.

I’m just going to blindly trust Howe and keep confidence that Isak stays with us, despite logic not applying today.

It's actually pretty childish and shallow when you think about. He's a young man that's already set for life, but he can't sit with his teammates because hes worried about getting more money from another club. He should think about people that are struggling to keep a roof over their heads, people that can't afford new school shoes for their kids.

He's on a good contract and could pretty much pick the team he wants to play for. If his head is turned and he wants to leave, bugger off and leave then. Don't expect me to have any sympathy or empathy towards his 'troubling situation'. It's such a hard fucking life Alex is it not.

If I'm wrong about this I'll hold my hands up and apologise.

I've just rewatched his presser and he never said this? Unless there's another interview he said this on?

Doesn’t explicitly say his heads been turned but says they mutually agreed he should go home, also Howe said it’s been difficult for him having to field questions on it and the last thing Isak wanted to was sit out watching the game. If you think any of that is normal I dunno what to tell you

The context doesn’t really make much difference to my opinion because to me the context isn’t particularly clear. He was sent home because he wasn’t going to be playing anyway, and Eddie didn’t want the speculation around him to be a distraction? He was sent home because this week has been fucked up and has probably had a mental affect on him… doesn’t mean his “head has been turned” but maybe he would just benefit from being at home.

I’m not seeing any definitive explanation to suggests his head has been turned. It’s a possibility sure, but so are numerous others. I’m not seeing any definitive explanation that suggests he wants away.

I’m in the camp of appreciating the honesty from Eddie and still feeling optimistic that he stays (I know first hand how much he loves it here).

My only qualm isn’t with Alex, but I have heard a few rumblings over the last few days about his agent kicking up all of this fuss for a bigger pay day (for them). I think and hope it will lead to a new contract offer from us. (That’s how I read the “careers are short quote”)

Who said it’s normal? It’s clearly not normal. Also, it’s not necessarily particularly worrying either.

It was mutually agreed he be sent home and Isak didn’t want to sit watching the game. That’s not right in any context

Hard to fault his judgment though, I wish I hadn't watched it either

Downie said Howe said he travelled to Glasgow here

I really dislike his use of language sometimes. It’s not helpful at all. It’s not the first time he’s used the word “desperate” when speaking of keeping players at the club. The media have a field day with it.

Howay man, his use of language is second to none in managers

Was he “sent home” from Glasgow? Or did he just not travel to Glasgow from the training camp. Waugh doesn’t seem to think he travelled at all.

None of it is ideal, but it’s not overly worrying to me. What can I tell you… I try to look for the positive rather than jumping to the worst possible scenario.

To be honest if I am Isak I would demand the club to give me a new contract or let me go. Just like what Howe said, footballer career is short and now since I am widely regarded as the best striker in the world, it’s the best time to get what I want.

We probably have no choice but to give him a new contract, the only way to resolve the matter now

Howe said he travelled to Glasgow (I assume from Austria)
