Yep - this is it.

That's what I was saying earlier about it not being what you'd expect a £150m star to be living in.

By contrast, Wilson and Dan Burn are very close to this place and their houses are beautiful.

FWIW Google says that page was indexed in 2023 so could be an old listing that hasn't been removed

I've been an unashamed superfan of Rory Smith for years now (though I think he's gradually died up his arse a little bit, the more he's featured on mainstream stuff) and his takes are always interesting and thoughtful.

He's absolutely right that selling a star isn't the end of the world. I was prepared to see us sell Bruno for megabucks this time last year, on the basis that it might fund growth. I'm pretty sure I'll have used the Coutinho example, as he does there, when debating it on here.

However - in the context of Isak - making the case for selling to fund growth is pure strawman. Even moreso is harping on about how PSR saves the wider football network from more state-funded success. That's not the point. Plenty of Newcastle fans wouldn't want that either. The point is, PSR makes the playing field uneven and this potential deal - after they've already invested unholy amounts into their attack - highlights that issue perfectly.

He's got a blind spot when it comes to PSR, probably entirely accountable to the fact he supports Liverpool.

it’s an interesting point you make about Bruno. I’ve argued here before that the only player we have on our books that’s irreplaceable is Isak, and advocated that we should be prepared to sell one or more of our other, more easily replaceable star players in order to fund continued progression and growth. It’s kind of ironic that we are now facing having to sell our one irreplaceable player partly because we’ve not been able to refresh and strengthen the squad sufficiently to keep him. We’re right to blame PSR, but I also believe we should become better buyers and sellers, as well as obviously growing revenue, if we are going to challenge for top honours (more) consistently.

For me, we should only sell Isak this summer for a king’s ransom (140m or more) and if we have found a viable replacement that allows us to challenge for CL qualification again. Tell Liverpool and Isak to put up or shut up by the end of the week latest and prepare a deal for Sesko ready to go in case they pull through. If they don’t, though luck we’ll re-assess next summer.

It was added yesterday on Rightmove and removed again this morning. Would be a heluva coincidence but I guess it could be just that.

Was it though, or is it an archive listing someone has used for clicks? Time will tell but its suspicious that the X post doesn't have the URL in it and the listing isn't available on rightmove

If top quality PL players cost £30m each, then sure selling Isak for £150m allows us to rebuild the squad. I'm too lazy to look but I'd be interested to see how Liverpool spent the Coutinho money because I bet they got a lot of players for it.

But that's not an option for us, the way prices are these days, selling Isak for £150m only really allows us to replace Isak plus maybe one other player. It's hardly a squad rebuild.

I did a rough calculation on here a few days back at the £150m mark. Would get you quite a bit.

Would basically cover six players (as above, including the already purchased Elanga) and their wages for three years. That assumes we started this window with a kitty of circa £105m.

That house is never worth almost 7 grand a month like

Agreed. I was shocked when I first realised he lived there. It's on one of the busier roads in Darras too.

No it was actually live on Rightmove this morning - I was writing a post to show it and Paully beat me to it and it was live then. Two seconds later it was gone.

Was added yesterday.

Someone’s probably been quick to rent it

Nah - they've pulled it down as you can also show 'let agreed' on Rightmove too.

Peaked too soon is my guess and the Agent has been bollocked for it.

Fair enough, our only hope then is that someone has jumped the gun and that's why it's been removed again.

What clown would rent a place for $10,000 a month is beyond me. I worked on a shitty little duplex that was 120 years old in Venice, California, and the owner put it over for $7000/month. Two rooms. One bathroom. Near the beach, but Venice is a bit of an overpriced shithole. It also has all sorts of issues with black mold returning.

The shitty place was rented within a week.

My guess is they’ve had about a thousand scousers and a couple hundred geordies phoning up enquiring about it so had to pull it

This is a real watershed moment in our history. This coupled with Howe's comments about it not being completely in his hands adds fuel to the fire, if we allow Liverpool to bend us over on this deal then we've shown ourselves to be weak, it is a vivid expression to other players and clubs that we aren't serious, this will cause irreparable damage to our "project".

I'm withholding judgement until all becomes clear but the signs aren't great.
