Without going full Tin Foil Hat mode, if he's genuinely gone on strike and faked injury, it almost makes me wonder if his "loss of form" at the end of last season was a coincidence too. Had he already been tapped up then? Failing to qualify for the champions League would've been a great way to knock a few quid off his asking price, after all.

Hard not to be cynical when he's willingly fucked our pre season.

He downed tools at the start of the season and again post cup final.

he disappeared against liverpool and in another game (Arsenal maybe?) and eyebrows were raised internally about how ‘injured’ he was.

I think he got one goal by Halloween last season and his body language was rank in multiple games. His head had gone at that point and it was only Howe’s brilliant management that brought him back to life.

I don’t blame his agent one bit, this is all on Isak and he comes out of it absolutely terribly. Total disrespect for not only the club but the manager who’s developed him beyond measure.

He’s a twat.

There was a match last season where a midfielder just jogged past him and he didn't even bother  I genuinely thought he's injured but its starting to make a lot of sense to be honest.

The streakiness was intentional? I love a good conspiracy 🤣

I just judge the performances with my own eyes. The goal counts just back it up.

his head was gone after the contract shite of last summer and he checked out again post cup final.

only now he’s downed tools and fucked off to another country without permission does it become even more clear.

People thinking he was downing tools :D Christ, take a day off lads.

Folk convincing themselves he deliberately downed tools is some sort of coping mechanism I think.

Anyway, we’ll go back and forth.

what we do know is he’s downed tools and fucked off and it’s absolutely rank behaviour.

sell him for as much as we can, but be as cunty as we possibly can about it is my take.

Not putting in 100% and completely downing tools are different things. We know he wasn’t putting in 100% for loads of matches last season, especially in second halves. You wouldn’t ever see Dan Burn, Joelinton, Bruno etc not giving 100% unless their bodies were broken. Isak was off it far too much last season for it to be purely managing niggles

Bruno could well be the key player in bringing Isak back into the fold. He's obviously got the respect of all the players and whilst he will be pissed off with Isak he knows how good he is and how much of a difference it will make. Bruno will want to play with the best and will no doubt support rehabilitation

Yeah you would hope with the big characters in the dressing room that if it comes to Isak returning to the fold that there is no awkwardness.

As mentioned I don't think his relationship with the fans will ever be totally repaired but in a few months if he is banging in goas again and on those little club videos playing games a lot will be forgiven.

It's always been the case that he isn't the most robust of players and starts to gas at around the seventy minute mark.

That along with his ever present thigh problem are the only things that would stop us getting very top dollar for him.

He had niggles before last season too.

We all know he never put 100% in plenty of games. That, primarily (imo) is down to him carrying these strains and not having Wilson/a suitable replacement to rest him for. It almost felt at times that when Isak got injured we'd rush Wilson back to replace him, and then Wilson would break down so Isak was rushed back. Rinse and repeat.

He is/was our star player and needed wrapped in cotton wool, hence why he was never at full pelt every game like Bruno or Joelinton.

He's downed tools now and thrown a strop it appears, I agree. But I think we're rewriting history here by saying because there were games when he only jogged back was down to him "downing tools".
