We must’ve known this was coming - it just makes Liverpool’s move for Ekitike all the more bizarre - had they left him to us, Isak would likely be at Anfield today. Nah, that's not right. The idea would be JP or Ekitike would join and get settled this season, and Isak would leave next season, and hopefully, we'd be back in the Champions League. If something was up, why did we say Isak wasn't for sale when Liverpool asked? Also, with Arsenal and Chelsea looking for a striker, wouldn't it have been smarter to let agents know Isak was available to start a bidding war? Chelsea would've been just as keen as Liverpool and Arsenal for Isak. That would've given us the freedom to get JP or Ekitike as replacements, plus the 150+ we want for Isak. Why wait until Liverpool is the only option? Also, Liverpool doesn't really need Isak, they just see a chance to get him cheap, so they'll try to lowball us. No. Its not patently obvious as you are suggesting. Edited August 1, 2025 by tarie4

Nothing that you wouldn’t expect really, but some of his teammates are really really annoyed with how he’s going about this, as well as some of the staff that I know. Not sure on what the management / execs think, but he’s burning through bridges very quickly it seems. And again, as I said a few days ago, the feeling is it’s very very out of character. I'm not surprised, I'd imagine our local lads like BDB are fuming at him tbh. It might be out or character but he's making his bed weather people are in his ear or not. The intent from both himself, his representatives and Liverpool are as clear as day. He should be happy the club has been so soft with him.
oldtype
Happiest explanation for all of this would be that Isak just really hates Korea and was looking for any excuse to drop out of the tour. I am 100% willing to take one for the team.

Big money involved, agent's fee especially. Maybees there's been threats 🤔 Maybees I've watched to many gangster documentaries 😂😂

Geogaddi
Blaming his agent is giving Isak a bit of a let off , if his agent told him to go jump off the Tyne bridge I can't imagine he would do it . This is all on Isak for me .

Looks like the guy is just an a grade A arsehole going by the way he’s conducted himself. Happy for him to prove me wrong somehow, can’t see it though. The players weren't here for before, they've bought into this club aiming to be no1. I've not seen a thing to suggest that's the case. No training centre. No youth academy. No progress on ground. No boardroom. No communication. No spending for several windows. They've got lucky in Howe, who theyve let down massively time again. Enough is enough. Stop preparing, thinking, discussing, consideration, weighing up and proposing. Fucking act. Act now before isak is the 1st of many who gets sick of waiting around. Players careers are short. They aren't obliged to hang around like fans. Agree with every word, we’ve seen nothing from PIF outside of what another forward-thinking owner could have done. In the near four years they’ve been here they have been nowhere near justifying the PR baggage that they bring. Eddie Howe’s incredible performance has completely papered over their flaws. Andy
Without going full Tin Foil Hat mode, if he's genuinely gone on strike and faked injury, it almost makes me wonder if his "loss of form" at the end of last season was a coincidence too. Had he already been tapped up then? Failing to qualify for the champions League would've been a great way to knock a few quid off his asking price, after all. Hard not to be cynical when he's willingly fucked our pre season.

Thanks for the info bud. This is why I said a couple of days ago, he just needs to go. Too many bridges have been burned and his behaviour and actions have been horrendous. As a squad and a football club in terms of atmosphere and environment, he just needs to move.

Swap deal? Haaland's the better fit for both as he's too much of a goal scoring machine despite his relative technical weakness to Isak If Isak were take his game up a level (of which he has the potential to) I'd be in total agreement

I mentioned when this came out the injury which was so severe he couldn't run was remarkable as he was still able to play twice a week. It was Schrödingers injury we were just too blind to see it at the time.
