If the club is able to find other suitors I can accept to let him go for the sake of squad harmony. In fact I wonder why other clubs won’t do something like a loan + obligation deal like the Hall one so they can get Isak now and paid next season. We are fine with this. My perfect scenario would be PSG and though Isak has thrown his toys out saying only Liverpool, surely PSG has some draw? Current champions, fantastic team, money fits. For us it could work too, they have players we could use + money. Ramos, Kolo Muani, Lee Kang-In, Asencio (at a stretch). We were interested in Ramos prior to signing Isak, since his Benfica days too. Edited August 8, 2025 by Casey

If the writing's on the wall surely we'd get the deal done and use the funds elsewhere. It would be madness to wait until the last few days of the window to sell him. Starting to feel he stays. Not sure I want him to like. Because it makes our negotiation position harder if teams already know we have a sudden cash influx of £130m+. And also know just how desperate we are of replacing him. Right now they can think that if we don't get any ok deals we are just going to keep him. Edited August 8, 2025 by Displayname

I know he'll be a big loss but this whole situation is crippling our transfer window and has killed all the highs from last season. Tell him/them it's £150 million by 5pm on Saturday or it's not happening. We desperately need to get everyone back on track for next week.

They just get on with it and source a replacement. Clubs already know we have money before the Isak sale. We need to target players who really want the move. If they wanted to throw in Donnarumma or a CB (Skriniar?) they’re not using even better. We can give them the Sesko money. Do a man’s shop on Xmas eve just buy everything last minute from one store. If Isak is willing to reason knowing that the club won’t back down, then it’s not unsalvageable. Tell him that he can go next summer, and if he’s got a problem with that, then tough shit. Allowing the cartel clubs to win with this bullying not only sends a message to them that they can tap up our players, but it sends a message to other players that they can throw a tantrum and force us to sell no matter where they are in their contract. That’s a really bad look, and dwarfs any headache caused by a 2 meter tall toddler. This. If we sell to Liverpool I would fear Tonali would be the next to wonder what sort of project he's bought into. With the right signings this summer we could have been genuine title contenders. Instead we are going the other way and all of our rivals are stealing a march.

Infinitely Content
I was listening to the Overlap thing this morning and when the Newcastle supporter suggested the fair fee for Isak being around £150m, many on the show seemed entirely bowled over in astonishment at it. It's not the first time I've read or seen that reaction either. For me it feels very cut and dry, if Wirtz is £116m, then one of the world's best strikers, proven in the Premier League, with a unique skillset and at the perfect age is surely worth £30m+ more? Are we missing something here or is it just an example of the condescending attitude of the cartel club supporters towards all things Newcastle United? Sima
Condescending attitude. The media think we should hand over our best talent at a value than benefits their beloved cartel six. You don't see this attitude with Brighton, mind because they toe the line and aren't a real threat. If they were I suspect they would be talked about in the same way. Carragher saying £150m is Mbappe money. It feels like a concerted effort to look down on Newcastle United in a sniggering, scornful way. I veer from finding it frustrating to somewhat pathetic that they feel the need to deride us, looking down upon on from their already lofty positions. The facts feel obvious to me, you cast a glance over other recent and even not so recent transfers, and it becomes evidently clear that asking for £150m for Isak is quite sensible and reasonable comparatively.
