Regarding attachment, it was hard not to get attached tbf. Especially for younger fans such as I; this fella was/is basically our Andy Cole, I suppose. As I posted before not only did I love him because of how good he was at footy but I absolutely adored his nonchalant personality off the pitch and in the media. Then sometimes some #pashun would seep through like when he leapt over the hoardings and was in amongst the fans away at Southampton in the cup semi final after assisting Joelinton. His celebration that had become somewhat iconic.

 

That this whole charade has gone the way it has makes it sting a fuck ton more, hence the vitriol being startling. But as has been mentioned it's something we'll have to get used to this sort of thing with how player trading is. Was speaking to an old housemate of mine who's a Chelsea fan and he said the last player he felt genuine attachment and love for was Hazard. Maybe an extreme example given the utter state of the way Chelsea act with player trading but we'll likely have to start feeling this way too. (Bruno being probably an exception, mind)

I don't think it was out of the blue though.

 

Management likely have known for a long time and is likely the reason Isak became shit the last few games of the last season as they've probably told him he is not for sale unless it being for some absurd amount of money which probably pissed him off.

 

Then when the scousers came with the Ekitike deal, and when we refused, that's when he completely lost his shit.

I do feel we've got plenty of players who are very obviously going through the motions of doing their best for their current employer before moving on to their next (they'll hope, better paying..).

 

Perhaps it's just me being cynical or getting older and seeing it for what it actually is but it would be nice to have a few players who are 'all in' old school style.

 

That's probably impossible though given its very much a two way street and clubs will happily pump off players who'd sign their lives away to stay local - see the Longstaffs and Elliott Anderson for recent examples.

I think it's a lot about personality too though. Tino seems quiet generally so even if he had a great appreciation and a strong feeling of affinity towards the club and city, he likely wouldn't display or announce it in the same way Bruno does. Bruno is an emotive, heart on the sleeve type character naturally I think, who has swept Joelinton up and carried him in his wake despite him also seeming a more quiet and reserved personality off the field.
