Was about to say I am not angry with you/your point. But, on reflection, I think I am. Well, more exasperated. What more do you want? If you’re a PSR nonce (it’s the word of the week!) what more did you expect?

You didn’t mention transfer spend, but you said you don’t blame him for going as he was sold a project that the club didn’t follow through on and that you’re unimpressed by the slowness and inaction of the ownership. Transfer spend is surely relevant to that. Indicative of an ownership trying to build a better squad (remember what the opposite felt like?). Spending what we/they can, overstretching at one point. Look at the improvements last three years (3.5 actually) to previous? You’re unimpressed?
Just doesn’t land well man. Comes across like you’re bemoaning the warm weather and your noisy aircon whilst forgetting what it’s like to freeze your bollocks off in the pissing rain.

If - as seems likely - Isak was made promises by the club which weren’t met, then he would be justifiably angry with the club; both in terms of where the club would be and in particular in terms of a new contract.  Hopefully the new CEO will end the smell of rank amateurism which has been emanating from upstairs for some time.

That doesn’t justify in the slightest his actions - he acted like a cunt and he is a cunt.  All footballers are ultimately mercenary in nature - I’ve never bought the ‘I proper love the club’ patter that they all come out with - but Isak showed a complete lack of professionalism in his actions.  His anger might be justifiable, but his actions weren’t.

For what it is worth, nowt personal meant or taken with any of this - always enjoyed crack on here with you 👍

That video reel from yesterday’s match leaving any good parts out? If not, that’s the worst I’ve ever seen him play.

Aye, it left out when he set Bergvall up with an xG of like 0.98

If you are promised something by a manager who leaves do you expect the company to go along with it ?

Ive been in that situation and immediately thought "well thats that fucked".

Yes on the contract, but I've been disappointed in the past without going full  nuclear and instead trying to work something out. As far as expectations of the where the club  would be, is this guy as thick as a brick if that were true? What would any reasonably intelligent person when studying the circumstances and rules conclude?  I understand this assumes he isn't a moron ,which we can't say for sure at this point,  he should conclude that the club is moving forward. I agree none of his antics were justified. As for rank emanating from upstairs? Yea, it hasn't been pretty but the shithead knew the guy who likely blocked his contract was shown the door. What was then done by this clown was complete unprofessionalism and distain for everyone around him.

Yep, I have been too - very recently in fact :) - and my reaction was to walk.  And I have.

Agreed - though my guess would be that it is the contract which was the issue, which may have been compounded by other issues.  But paying Isak less than Joelinton is a pisstake.

I personally think he just looked at the wages on offer and that was that.

Not sure expecting someone to honour a contract that was freely negotiated with a professional agent can ever be described as a "pisstake."

Obviously his value to the team (although maybe not to team spirit) was higher than Joelinton's.

I probably worded it stronger than necessary, but if you're one of the world's elite centre-forwards it might well seem like precisely that.

Just a difference of opinion 👍 You know the quote, ‘they’re like … everyone has got one.’ Nothing personal meant either, only one arsehole in this scenario and he’ll have to live with his choices.

Haven’t followed this discussion bur this is where I’m at. For a lot of fans they don’t want to entertain the idea that the club may have contributed or helped to escalate the situation.  It’s heroes and villains.

Will he?

Do you think he'll get 20 league goals?

Wonder what needs to happen to trigger all of the add-ons.

Qualify for champs league, play xx games, score xx goals, win something?

Would anyone want the club to miss out on 10-15 mil to see none of that happen?

This is what I said at the time - it’s just unlucky if someone promises you something and then leave. Over the course of a 5 or 6 year contract things are bound to change around and above you.

Moving to a club that let Salah and Van Dijk's contracts run down and TAA's.

Oh and they abide by their contracts.

Or should we constantly renew everyones contracts based on their last season ? How much would Willock be on from a couple of seasons back ?

Also what about the rumours at the time that tentative talks were done but Isak's team wanted a ridiculously low release ?

I've read a fair amount comment that we should have offered Isak fresh terms, but that doesn't excuse his behaviour. It's fair enough really and more nuanced than the straw men being chucked about.

It's a pointless discussion regardless. Isak's gone now and only he will know his motivations for leaving.

I’d happily see us lose out on the add ons, I couldn’t wish more ill will on him if I tried.

That option just isn’t available to footballers though. That’s the price they pay for being made incredibly rich.

Agreed - and I don’t think Isak’s actions were justified.  I think he might have had justification to be unhappy, but no justification to act like a twat.
