Sima
The general consensus of female punditry would go a long way if someone like Nieve Petruzziello was there instead of someone who is selected because she kicked a ball around in front of probably an average of 1000 people a week across her career. To say we are where we are solely because of Isak is lazy at best. No point in doing any analysis at all of us because we’re not one of the “top clubs”. We don’t matter to them unless we’re being used as a farm so they can have their entitlement of taking our best players away from us.

Plenty of terms that apply to 90% of 'pundits' regardless of their gender.

It applies to pretty much everyone this though. For outsiders it looks like Isak is carrying you. This is just normal for opposition fans. Look at the amount of people how think Amad is carrying us, when really he's actually been a bit poor lately and it's actually been Fernandes, Ugarte and De Ligt who have been the stand out performers, with the latter two getting criticised for absolutely no reason whatsoever except for ignorance. A lot of people on here say the same with Salah and Liverpool, and have said the same with Arsenal and Saka. It's normal for a team to have an attacker who has the bulk of the goal contributions. Well that's preceisely it isn't it Froggy. The layman fan is quite entitled to feel how they like about other clubs and why they are where they are. I'd like to think pundits are paid a salary to have somewhat of a more informed opinion. I appreciate the last sentence is naive. Pundits are hired either as a check box or as a popularity contest to try and bring in more viewers. Coverage would be a lot better if it had decent fans in place instead, like Adam McKola for us or TCD for you, but they wouldn't get the subscriptions Sky are after. I should probably listen to better podcasts but I recently listened the most recent 'Stick to Football' and with regards the Premier League all they talked about was the "top clubs" outside of a remark from Carragher about how Arsenal were not able to get Isak. We were in complete control after the Zirkzee and Collyer subs I felt. Very poor in general but we did deserve to win the game by the end of it. Really? Was fully expecting you to say that was your worst. You'll obviously have watched more than us, but I thought although the result was fine in the end, the performance was abysmal considering the level of opposition (the biggest factor of all), the team you had out, and being at home. Off the top of my head I thought you were better and had more intent in the 7-0 Liverpool, 4-0 Brentford, and both 3-0 Bournemouth matches.

I think the Spurs game this season was much, much worse to be honest. Fernandes getting a red card maybe makes it look like it wasn't as bad, but we were getting torn to shreds before that anyway. Wolves game was worse than last night as well IMO. Also reckon the opening half hour against yourselves is probably the worst half hour I've ever seen from us but Mainoo coming on saved that from being an embarassment. I think we were poor last night, and Southampton had chances, but people seem to be glossing over the amount of chances we had ourselves. We've had games where we've created absolutely nothing and just sleepwalked to a defeat.

They're abject (as they ended up showing) whereas getting torn up by us, or Spurs isn't unusual with us being good teams who can do that. Wolves despite being in trouble have good technical players too, but seeing Southampton dominate the midfield, get to a good amount of second balls, defend relatively easily until they self-imploded, and their winger having Yoro all ends up really shocked me like. Particularly as it was Mainoo and Ugarte in there, not Eriksen and Casemiro. The biggest thing was the effort though, so many players seemed like they were just out there for a casual kick about. As bad as you've been I still fully expected you to walk this from the start, but until Amad took it upon himself to win it, I'd have put that in the 'created absolutely nothing and just sleepwalked to a defeat.' category, that Anthony sitter aside, against the worst opposition in the league. Around the half hour mark Southampton had an attack and Ugarte just jogged back when he was in a position to track back. Amorim gave him dogs abuse and I'm fairly sure that was reason for the sub, but Mainoo was much worse than him last night. Ugarte has been one of best players in recent weeks, but he's 23 and not immune to a poor performance. I'm not reading into it too much.
Tiresias
Honestly the defining characteristic of post-ferguson Man United is they generally look pretty poor and yet somehow string decent enough set of results to finish near the top 4 and sometimes win a cup even though by all rights and tests on the eye they have no right to. They briefly flirted this season with not just looking bad but actually being really bad, so good for Amorim I guess for restoring them to the winning despite it making no sense levels. The talk is Mainoo is demanding £200k a week. I don't think there's much wrong with him coming to terms with the fact that's a sellable asset. It might ground him a bit. I do wonder if all the public discussions of internal disagreements at old trafford is really hurting them. I'm not sure if it's the amount of press involvement and plenty ahve good sources, or if the hierarchy leak a lot to embarrass each other, or if they do it cos they think will help the team somehow, or if it;s all the squad doing it whenever they're pissed at a contract offer or lack thereof. I have to say if my agent is whispering in my ear that maybe man u would give you a £200k contract, you raise it and then all of a sudden its leaked you're greedy and you're up for sale it could go the other way. Equally I question if it's really the homegrown value thing that will drive the sale but they dont want to admit that so leak he asked for a load.
