It’s a huge offer, obviously healthy for PSR. But I think they went with the short term gain option, and could still sell him in the summer for the same or more? Not sure they felt like they needed to snatch at that deal and sell a first team mainstay mid season when they are chasing a European spot. 
 

You also need to consider their current PSR position, did they need to sell? And did he want to go?

I think this is the crux of it.  Accepting a bid for a player who doesn't want to go makes no sense.  If he was up for the move I reckon they would have accepted it.

We don’t need or should spunk massive money on players that don’t offer a lot apart from in transitions.  Put Elanga in a team that isn’t massively about transitions mainly and he’s isn’t all that, I’ve seen him play for years. 
 

At Nottingham he’s at the perfect place for him. It doesn’t mean he would be a great signing for us. 
 

If we are to evolve we need different skills than him and Barnes for example. I very much doubt any of the best clubs would even think about signing Elanga. Actually they might, clubs do make odd transfers.
