Fucking mental how things have changed since then. Emery is absolutely top quality but it’s more than that, it is what the owners have done in five years in terms of not just money but putting in place a structure throughout the club which works. Gerrard was a blip on an upward trajectory but they also fixed the things that went wrong (mostly Purslow) and ended in such a shit appointment in the first place. It’s never an easy way back from a decade of being laughably shit, including an owner who just got bored and then sold us to a con man currently in prison in China, but I dunno, I do feel we had to hit rock bottom before things got better.
