Punditry has really degenerated to such a horrible state, whether it’s organic or whether they want this as it’s good for clips, I don’t know but it’s horrible. The girl who does co comms on BT, I think Lucy? She is actually really good and one of the only ones I like listening to. Very knowledgeable and actually seems happy to be doing her job. Last night was reprehensible.

And yet my 82 year old mother would switch Lucy off as "women shouldn't be commentating on men's football as they have annoying, squeaky voices".

Mind you, her mum's definition of a good husband was one who "takes you out once a week and doesn't beat you" - so each generation moves on a little I guess.

Followed the mayhem on here last night but only just caught up on the highlights. Aside from my utter dejection at what's happening to that competition, my main thought about that game is: is this really where we're at with commentary now? Is that really what viewers want? And, if so, how many spikes am I allowed on the mace I'll use to batter them with?

The slide to having club 'representatives' on comms has quickened a lot over the last few years but even the more obvious cases hold their professionalism to some extent. Last night felt like a shark jump. Any vague pretence of neutrality was utterly absent and it shouldn't be like that; it's basically not commentary any more.

Made worse of course by the voices themselves. Not sure you could find two bigger melts than Ferdinand and Savage.

I've never got over Sky having Niall Quinn on co-comms for one or more derby fixtures in the mid 2010s. As if losing wasn't enough, having him chuckle along in the background was enough to push you over the edge

Some really awful decisions being made by TV broadcasters this Easter period. Today's offering is shocking, I understand that all the game are on SkySports+ which is great but on the actual channels they've chosen really poorly.

Same goes for the weekend games, obviously our game tomorrow has alot riding on it, two tops teams still fighting for Europe.

But then Sunday is absolute trash. Ipswich Vs Arsenal and then Leicester Vs Liverpool. Two terrible choices. The only slim hope is that Ipswich put up a proper fight against a tired Arsenal.

Monday is a little better with Burnley Vs Sheffield United on. Atleast they're both title challengers.

All market triangulation to try and be like the YouTube watchalong lot innit. Reeks of when corporations and brands try to get in on things that whether we like them or not were people-drivem things to start out with. History usually tells us that when it gets to that point, people are turned off by it and move onto something else that'll end up in the same position.

Its that time of year where its been 6/8 weeks since the TV picks where made, and games that where thought to be going to be consequential when they where made, just aren't now.

Though I have no idea what they where doing with them Sunday picks, Liverpool have had the league wrapped up since what feels like Christmas.

Only thing I can think is that they assumed Liverpool would be winning the title officially on Sunday.

Massive goal for Luton

Got a soft spot for Luton (had a load of their kits when I was a kid - some of my collection below - and one of my best mates is a Hatter) so am cheering them on.

Hint of offside on that goal I thought though?

Really liked those two Bedford sponsored shirts.

I inherited the one with orange sleeves from my older brother, and then kept going collecting the rest on my own. That orange sleeve one is iconic - reminds me of Ricky Hill, Brian and Mark Stein, Frank Bunn, Mick Harford, Steve Foster, David Preece (RIP) et al. Great team they had.

It is a bit of a mixed bag. Derby vs Luton was a big game, and a logical pick in terms of Championship, and while this evenings games don't look as appealing now, nobody would have thought Sheff U would have lost 3 in a row to make the top 2 battle less compelling. I guess if they did win at 5.30pm, then it will put more pressure on Leeds at 8pm, so at least it's that way round in terms of the watching neutral as if Burnley and Leeds had both won before Sheffield hypothetically played at 8pm, and were both 8 points clear, then it would be even worse. No idea why they are showing Mansfield vs Rotherham as the main match at 3pm, that just seems the most random pick ever, and while I'll probably just watch the scores then, the main coverage is obviously much better than a red button match.

Not sure why there's no 12.30pm league match on Saturday, but our game is big at 5.30pm as you say, as the race for the top 5 is the most interesting thing going at the moment.

I saw 'Super Sunday' advertised and had the exact same thoughts. Probably going to be 0-2 and 0-3 type matches, but I guess if Ipswich did somehow pull off a win, Sky would be absolutely kicking themselves if they weren't showing Liverpool securing the title live, even if it is just a case of when they win, and no jeopardy. Obviously Fulham vs Chelsea is just on Sunday because of Europe (likewise Man Utd), and otherwise would have been 3pm on Saturday, but I'd much rather watch that match over both Sky games with it being a local derby and one team going for Conference and the other for Champions League and a close looking match on paper.

Carlisle take the lead against leaders Port Vale, but in the same minute nearest relegation rivals Accrington also take the lead, so would be as you were with a game fewer if it stays the same. Tranmere are at least losing.

Carlisle 2-0 up against top of the league Port Vale. Crawling themselves towards safety, but it feels like this run has come too late.
