Does it happen every year that 15 teams has nothing to play for (bar conference league) nearly 10 games before the end, or that the bottom 3 has a total of 50 points after 33 games each? And yet 2nd place has less than 2 points per game. All of this means more points to the rest, especially those who are actually fighting for something. People say it every year before the season, and I do get annoyed about that myself. I said it after 33-34 rounds, because now we have 100 times more information.

There isn't fifteen teams with nothing to play for. 8th will more than likely be a EC spot, which would be quite a big deal for the likes of Brighton, Brentford and Fulham.

It also doesn't follow that a team with nothing to play for will just down tools for the end of the season, granted a few might.

Looking at fixtures and General consistency, I'd be amazed if all five teams pick up maximum points for the rest of the season (perhaps bar City). It's why they're fighting for 5th and not the title.

Although I take the point that now 5th means more, the points tally might nudge up over the years.

They're winning and could play trash every game and still pick up the points.

Give it a few weeks until we send them packing at SJP wor kid.

Had it on the radio out walking the youth in his push chair. So not seen anything. But it sounds like Chelsea have been far from convincing again.

Long may it continue. So long as they drop points, of course!

Everton only seem to have the shite tactic of hoofing it around the Goalkeeper.

Both Garner and Mykolenko with precision guided floats straight into Sanchez’s gloves every time.

With Chelsea it’s very simple, beat them at home and will finish above them. Lose that game and they finish ahead.

I don’t expect Chelsea to beat Liverpool but they will beat Man Utd, everyone does.

Wycombe lost so Wrexham will get promoted to the championship if they win later today.

Charlton have the chance to really mix it up in that game. Would love Charlton to head up.

First line: I included that in the post you quoted.

Noone thinks that all those teams will win the rest of the games. Noone thinks that all teams with nothing to play for will just give up. However teams having nothing to play for IS a factor, ofcourse it matters.

Lets look at the numbers:

6th and 5th place after gameweek 33:

19/20: 52 & 55 pts

20/21: 54 & 55 pts

21/22: 54 & 57 pts

22/23: 54 & 56 pts

23/24: 53 & 60 pts

24/25: 57 & 58 pts

My only argument was that this season will probably see a higher number than usual. So far the numbers back that up aswell. What other people are saying every season is completely irrelevant to what the situation is right now.

Everton just stink up the league decade after decade. Even the better Everton team of the late 00’s was honking to watch.

I thought they were decent back then. Definitely had more fluid attacking style back then.
