No, but more similarly to the point I was making, I don’t think we should get in the Champions League (or Europe) and just be ‘Ok, let’s just be happy we got here, but let’s vote in a way that keeps us getting into Europe without us having to do much’. Abacus
18 minutes ago, BonesJones said: Do you also think clubs with more history in Europe should mean they get more coeficcient points than us? I can't speak for Stifler and he's already responded, but clearly no for me. If Bournemouth get there then they have earned it. Thing is, I wasn't sure which way I wanted that Leeds result to go tonight at the start. The only reason I picked that game to watch was I figured the Man City Burnley game would be a dead rubber, and it seems that Burnley put on a decent show so fair play to them. I was happy for Bournemouth to be above Chelsea, but equally wanted more pressure on the teams below Leeds, who also deserve to be where they are. A draw did both. Looks like a shootout between Spurs and West Ham at the bottom now to me. Also, dead chuffed for Longstaff as I don't think anyone would wish him bad luck. Right. I mean, I’m not a Bournemouth, Palace, Brighton or Brentford fan, but I’ll stick up for them, since they have “no real fanbases”. Maybe there’s a reason why you said “up until recently there were more fans of clubs like Man Utd, Liverpool, and Arsenal than those clubs [in those areas]”. I hope that did change.. And those teams that don’t try to compete did all right in your last two games, no?

Main concerns are if De Zerbi stays and if we’ve protected ourselves with the player contracts. And if we get the pricing model right for fans next year - both us and the opponents. And those teams that don’t try to compete did all right in your last two games, no? Alright, let’s look at Bournemouth, our last opponent. Last summer they sold all their big name players, every single one of them, except for a long term injured Kluivert. Their manager is leaving because he’ll face the same this summer, regardless of them achieving European football or not, and because there are clubs now after him who match his own ambition. Now let’s go to Palace. They fluked their way to an FA Cup win last season. They have sold a few of their best players in the summer, with the rest up for sale this summer. Their manager is leaving because much like Iraola at Bournemouth, the club isn’t matching his ambitions. Shall we try Brighton? You know that club who sells everyone to. Chelsea when they come calling, including their manager? The team who played Chelsea last night, and their fans couldn’t be bothered to turn up. If you do go down, and I still very much doubt that you will, if you do, you’ll not need to do much to come back up. Your income alone is enough to buy 2 teams good enough to win the Championship, so much so to the extent that I think you’ll stand a good chance of getting record points. Yeah, like I say, I think if De Zerbi stays and our contract situation isn’t too messy we’ll go straight back up. The income will help (although I haven’t got my head round the Football League rules at all, they seem really strict) but the fact we have such a large, deep and young squad should generate some money too. I still worry about our apparent lack of competence and experience behind the scenes.
Paullow
Sunderland, Tottenham and Arsenal wins to cap a fully miserable Premier League weekend? The worst part is, if one of those wasn't to happen, I genuinely don't know which one I'd prefer not to, given the state of our season.

Forest win, Spurs and Arsenal draws. Inshallah. Aye, I've always liked reminding my mackem pals / colleagues that they've only played 4 matches in Europe in their history and not since 1973, and that they've never finished in the top 6 of the top flight since 1955. I was thoroughly expecting both to continue for many years to come, so for even one of those to end this season as a newly promoted club, never mind two, would be pretty grim. We're shite, absolutely no chance we'll win 5 matches, so for the sake of finishing anywhere from 12th-16th, I think I would actually prefer wins for Forest and Wolves if I was magically given the option, as crazy and small time as that might sound.
