"To add a further worry, one of their most important players could be missing for these two games, as Joelinton is still struggling with a knee injury.

When he missed a three-game sequence against Man City, Forest and Liverpool back in February, Newcastle conceded nine goals – 20% of their total for the whole season."

Love a negative don't you.

Feel like Man City away and Liverpool away is usually about 20% of our seasonal goal concession regardless.

The biggest threat would be a Forest-Chelsea draw that see's them both qualify with 68-69 points on the last day.

Provided we don't lose to Chelsea, we could avoid that with another point at Arsenal. If we could get to 68 with a final day win against Everton, then Forest would have to beat Chelsea on the final day and Chelsea wouldn't be able to rely on a draw either, depending on how many goals they can put past Man U a week today. Of course, if Villa win all three then in the above situation a Forest v Chelsea draw will be the only result that would get us over the line, provided we can put a few past Everton.

I've more confidence in beating Chelsea at home than getting a point at the Emirates.

Your scenario also leaves the door open for Villa potentially.

Fuck that. Beat Chelsea and we have 2-swings at securing CL football, all in our hands.

I didn't. Was always going to be a bonus.

Liverpool winning the league and a good win at Fulham tilted my perspective on Chelsea. They've got a good chance of making it, I expected them to finish 6th/7th.

We should beat them. But i expect they will still be in the race come GW38 with a win probably enough to secure it.

We need to beat Chelsea man.

Not beating Chelsea opens the gates for a GW38 draw that would see both Forest & Chelsea qualify, which we need to avoid.

I mean their game away game at Villa Park literally ended in a draw. This time around it's their last home game of the season. Man Utd have allways been good vs Villa. They beat them twice last season despite Villa finishing 4th. It's almost like the Bournemouth situation for us. Not saying Villa weren't favourites to win this game, but it wasn't as clear as you would think (without the final).

Being mid to lower table didn't stop Man Utd from taking points off of Liverpool, Arsenal, Man City, Chelsea, and Villa this season.

In 3 of the hardest games like.

We definitely shouldn't depart too much from previous badges and heritage. Could someone 'shop a seahorse and a magpie necking on with someone like Stevie Taylor having a tug in the background?

All permutations and worries are pointless , beat Chelsea and we get top 5, don't beat them and we wont. Really is as simple as that .

Not really. 4 points from our next 2 games will do just fine, however we get them.

Villa game tonight is huge , if they win that we are going to need another 6 points to finish above them .

We need 6 points anyway we can’t be concerned what other teams do if we don’t get our job done

It's not like you to put a negative spin on things!

Protests planned if we don't win i heard.

In fact, remind me again of all the negative permutations if we don't win? I've not heard enough of them.

Joelinton will miss Arsenal too.

We have to find a way and I trust Eddie to make it happen. Including wheeling out Joelinton one more time.

We've beaten better Chelsea teams with worse sides in the PL at SJP. I believe in the boys.

Chelsea's midfield are apparently functioning a lot better since Lavia has come back in. Add to that we will have a vital cog missing in Joelinton.

This is the problem with writing off clubs with Chelsea's resources, they have a far deeper squad than us.

Yes we are at home, yes we can win. But let's not pretend this is like playing Fulham or Wolves at home. This is a big game between two very big teams, nothing can be taken for granted.

We are currently the same odds for a top four finish that Villa are for a top six finish. That's a very, very different bet.

Surely the bookies would have cottoned on if we were as vulnerable as some on here think (myself included at times).

I’ve only been thinking about Forest and Chelsea for a while now. Man City are in, Villa were too far behind, it’s just those two we need to focus on.

Villa have got slightly closer obviously but overall we would have had to really collapse to finish behind them.

I've been staying out of this thread a little so sure this has already been mentioned....but Spurs v Man Utd in the Europa final on the 21st, with both playing away against Villa and Chelsea the Friday before is typical luck. They'll be playing 2nd string and not give a fuck :pilko:
