The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Conference League (at least)

Been saying it for a while, I know champions league in Pinnacle of club football but I'd be happy with Europa league, honestly think it's a great chance of another trophy, looking at Spurs and Man Utd in last 4 makes me think of another trophy opportunity...

What's people's thoughts?

Madness imho. We've won a cup and got that monkey of our back. The best way to continue to progress and compete for future silverware is by finishing the highest we possibly can, grow our prize money, commercial profile and revenue, etc., attract better players and continue to develop into a better club. For where we are right now, five points clear with 6 games to go, that means anything but CL qualification would be a massive missed opportunity.

I was firmly in the 'prefer to be in the Europa League' camp and always have been, literally until last night. That competition looks to be on its arse as far as the winners go. Winning trophies means a lot less if you're the default favourites.

If Bilbao win - and if say Betis win the Conference - my faith will be restored a bit. Probably a moot point anyway cos we're torpedoing our way to CL footy regardless.

This is the problem more blatantly with the Conference League. English clubs have so much money that it diminishes it as any sort of achievement.

Is there still the opportunity to drop into EL from the CL or has that been done away with in the new format?

Teams can still move if they lose in a qualifying or play-off round - think the play-off losers from the CL go into the EL League Phease - but in the main competition, no.

There’s plenty of time for off seasons where we miss out on CL and have a shot at the Europa or Conference League, just like Chelsea etc now. Quite possibly next year when we may drop due to having to cope with CL. There’s no way I’m actively hoping we miss out on CL when we’re on course for it.

Exactly, if there's a chance take it. We might not.be in the mix next season.

If this doesnt put things in perspective for those who want Europa league i dont know what will.

Its a huge competition to get into CL, no guarantees we will get back shortly if we miss out now.

Could be wrong here but I think we're on the same points as at this stage in 22/23 now.

It's down as -3 but technically game 25 (Brighton at home) was postponed and didn't actually happen until the end of May.

We had 62 points with 6 games left to play in that season so we are effectively 3 points behind.

Everyone said they’d be calm with a defeat. Let’s hope so.

Hopefully some help from Fulham or Spurs in the next two days, but either way the race is truly on with five to play.

We’re still in a very strong position.

Doesn't really change too much for us.

We look knackered second half though. We really need to beef this squad up in the summer as three games in six days is too much for the same eleven, particularly with the way we play.
