The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Conference League (at least)

I think if we draw to Chelsea, it could be smart to go full defensive (which we never normally do) against Arsenal so as to just not get our goal difference down too much, then  look to thrash Everton.

It could genuinely come down to goal difference between us and Chelsea if we draw to them this weekend.

Cept to be honest I reckon we are much better to just doing what we do best and just having a go at it.

Nah. Either Forest dropping points at West Ham or Chelsea v ManU gives us a decent chance without beating Arsenal. We may no longer be favourites but would be silly to think it’s over. Hope this sort of energy isn’t in the crowd on Sunday.

Think if we draw to Chelsea this weekend it's not completely over.

But we'd need to get 4 points from arsenal away and everton at home, so most likely draw to arsenal away which will be difficult then beat everton at home, could be doable if we just go hard on defense maybe, especially if they are being careful not to injure anyone for the CL matches. Could really do with arsenal beating l pool this weekend and securing CL football before playing us, but it's at anfield and I reckon this is one of the few games l pool will take seriously.

Wed also need villa to not win all of their 3 remaining games in this scenario.

It’s not energy 😂 talking in a forum isn’t anything to do with supporting the team in the stadium. My opinion is the game on Sunday is 100% must win.

People are driving themselves mad in here. Watch the games play, shout your lungs out to help get the right result. That's all that really matters.

Stattos still think we're significantly more likely to qualify than Chelsea, Forest and Villa, and we only need to beat two of them.

I enjoy watching how no-one knows what our results will be, but they’re CERTAIN of what the every other team’s results will be

That's true. I just think there is so much riding on this that most are freaked out.

Understandably, there's too much over thinking going on. It's simple, It's in our own hands, just what we would have wanted with just 3 games left.

One game at a time, win the next one, that's all we need to focus on.

3 points is the magic number

We always needed to beat Chelsea.  That’s been obvious for some time. Only way we beat Arsenal is if they are in the CL final imo.

IMO the point at the Amex was a bonus. it’s an extra blanket against Villa.

Arsenal have been below average recently. A point there is definitely achievable even with Big Joe out.

Only way?

We have already beaten them 3 times this season. Both us and Arsenal are unreliable and can be both fantastic or shit depending on the day. Arsenal just lost at home to Bournemouth like.

Im not saying we are favorites there or anything, but if we need a win its not out of the question that we will get it.

Whatever happens it’s been a brilliant season winning a first trophy but my main reason for wanting CL now is not only the players we could attract but also avoiding a summer of “where’s Isak/Tonali” off to. I can’t be doing with a whole summer of that.

A lot of people writing the Arsenal game off. They haven't been great recently and we've already beaten them three times this season.

if they make the final the last thing they'll want is a physical game. If they don't make it well their seasons over and I could see them phoning it in to some extent.

Because they are focussed on the champions league.  If they get knocked out they will want to win their last league game at home.

In any case that would mean our maximum points is 67 if we draw Arsenal and Chelsea which I think leaves us vulnerable.  69 points via beating Chelsea will get us top 5. 67, I’m less confident.

It’s not out of the question. But the easier game is at home to Chelsea.  Win that and the Arsenal game is a free hit.

For awhile now the Brighton and Arsenal fixtures were bonuses.

Shame they aren’t making the final.

If every remaining game for the contenders finishes 0-0 we end up 4th and qualify.

Unlikely, nay impossible, I know, but possibly the only remaining set of results which hasn't been mooted in this thread yet  :D

I'd almost be targeting a win and two draws at this point. That would make it incredible unlikely that Forest and Chelsea could both win enough games to overtake, given that they play each other and we would avoid defeat to Chelsea.

I guess 69 is the magic number that means Villa definitely can't catch us, but they 'probably' won't win all 3 anyway.

I don't think we get anything at Arsenal or at least I'm certainly not counting on it.

Chelsea is tough. If it had been a night game, I'd back us but I do worry about the atmosphere and the crowd.

I hope worflags is doing something big.
