Anthony Gordon (now playing for FC Barcelona)

Recommended Posts

I don't expect Anderson to go for the figures quoted. But he's linked to Prem teams which drives the price up. And he would compare more favourably in stats models. And for some reason PL CMs are going for more than wingers. Release clause or otherwise top wingers have been going for £60-80m: Kvara, Olise, Raphinha, Eze, Diaz, Semenyo etc. I expect Gordon will land £65m-75mish.

I don’t understand him being in the bench if he’s not going to come on - I’d rather put a youngster there!

Be interesting to see what reception he gets if he comes on Sunday

Howe pretty much confirmed he’s gone. The team is being picked with an eye on next year.

Aye his quote does sound like it. Rather odd comments for my money suprised he didn't just straight bat it. (Haven't seen the wording of the question mind)

It's totally shit that he's behaved in a way that means we don't want to use him for these last few games. Not on Isak level but on the spectrum.

If he'd given everything until the end of the season he could've gone with at least some well wishes.

How's he behaved? This has passed me by like.

I don't know, but some way that means Howe has decided it's better to keep him out of the team instead of use him to get us some points.

May well be an element of us happy for him to be the big sale this summer (even though there may be more) and we don't want him picking up an injury in the last few games that would scupper a big money move for him too

Maybe it's a case of protecting him from potential injuries so we can sell him.

Eddie has always given him white gloves treatment iyam.

I dunno, if Bayern have made an offer and it looks like its happening and all parties are happy I dont see much of an issue to be fair.

Yeah the Bayern situation is really interesting, I just don't see them paying up what we need. Arsenal are the ones I look at And can see

I wouldn't want to risk him not being sold due to injury. Wrap him up and send him on his way.

Aye fair enough, possibly. Hopefully it means the sale will be done quickly as soon as the window opens then.

Well, hopefully the deal is all agreed and as signed and sealed as it can be, as I think the WC starts a few days before the window opens, so Gordon will (probably) be away over there.

It would appear to me that Gordon hasn’t overtly done anything ’wrong’.

Howe just probably feels that with this move hanging over him, is he the best person to be playing for in this moment?

If we had critical games coming up, maybe it would be different, but in the situation we are, I think it’s understandable from both manager and player.

If he wants out, and we're open to selling him, it makes no sense to play him and risking any injury that might affect his sale.

Anderson is the top performer in his position for passing, tackles, interceptions etc. has a big impact on games.

I don't think Gordon is anywhere near the top wingers based on stats

That's surprising considering how ordinary Anderson looked for us. But then he plays in a different formation for both Forest and England so probably gets more time on the ball than in a Howe team.

Which is fine, and acceptable, but then don't put him on the bench just to protect his 'reputation' after he's been accused of not being 100% committed to the team, and the manager questioned as such for picking him.

If Eddie really does have an eye on 'the future' then put one of the young 'uns on the bench to bring on and get some valuable minutes and experience.

Aren't we nit picking a bit here?

Especially considering we weren't technically safe prior to the forest game.

I think he's a bit worried about the optics and the headlines of leaving a match-fit Gordon out of the squad. It creates a headline in itself.

Not saying I agree with the rationale but I can understand it.

Think his performances and attitude over the last two seasons have made it hard for many people to warm to him, he has pretty poor overall in the league since that move to Liverpool fell through and that can only be one of two reasons. One is he was never that good in the first place and that good season was just a purple patch, the other is  that he had his head turned. Depends on which one you believe really. I wouldn't boo him if he came on Sunday but he's certainly done nothing at all to earn a good send off like say Trippier will get. Don't think many people are even bothered we are selling him either which tells you a lot.

Sport.de whoever they are reckon Bayern will go up to 70mEuro (£61m)

Too low for me like.

Chuck in one or two promising youngsters that we can flip in a few years for 5-10m each if they're not good enough for us.

If it was just these last 2 matches Gordon wasnt going to be playing in advance of a transfer, then i wouldn't be too bothered, but hes missed the last few games before that too after picking up a very dubious injury (which i dont beleive existed).

He pretty much downed tools a few weeks ago as far as I can tell, but Eddie has managed it extremely well do that there isn't a stink played out in public again.

From the clubs point of view - If you have a good player willing to play, then you're going to use them to get as fair up the table as possible, especially when getting Europe was still within the realms of possibility a few weeks ago.

Again from the clubs point of view, what's the problem if he does get injured in the last couple of games and it scuppers a transfer? If it fell through, then great, we have another willing player for another half season at least. I think the problem here though, is he isn't willing.
