Sport.de whoever they are reckon Bayern will go up to 70mEuro (£61m)

Too low for me like.

Seems like it will be a repeat of last summer with Isak if there isn't another club ready to step in. If Bayern are the only party they will use Gordon to force the price down.

If he wants out, and we're open to selling him, it makes no sense to play him and risking any injury that might affect his sale.

What if he isn't sold before the world Cup? Cannot see tuchel not playing him.

Yeah that's beyond our control, not much we can do about that.

If there are strong rumours of a player that might play a big role in their national team going to another club in a WC year, I think the deal tends to get done pre-WC though. I have absolutely no examples to back this up off the top of my head but seems the norm. The interested party doesn't want all the other clubs in the world looking at him on the big stage if they're already set on him.

Chuck in one or two promising youngsters that we can flip in a few years for 5-10m each if they're not good enough for us.

Young lad called Musiala would do.

Yeah, like what we did to Brentford with Wissa, too.

If it was just these last 2 matches Gordon wasnt going to be playing in advance of a transfer, then i wouldn't be too bothered, but hes missed the last few games before that too after picking up a very dubious injury (which i dont beleive existed).

He pretty much downed tools a few weeks ago as far as I can tell, but Eddie has managed it extremely well do that there isn't a stink played out in public again.

From the clubs point of view - If you have a good player willing to play, then you're going to use them to get as fair up the table as possible, especially when getting Europe was still within the realms of possibility a few weeks ago.

Again from the clubs point of view, what's the problem if he does get injured in the last couple of games and it scuppers a transfer? If it fell through, then great, we have another willing player for another half season at least. I think the problem here though, is he isn't willing.

If he wasn’t injured (and Howe was extremely explicit that he was), why is he on the bench now, when he wasn’t then? What’s changed?

I would guess that Eddie has sat down and discussed it with him, and agreed that we will sell him, but he needs to sit on the bench to avoid embarrassing both Gordon and the club.

Why else would he have gordon on the bench, but not using him when eddie is fighting for his job and hes one of our best players?

Given it looks likely he's going to leave, what would people prefer:

1) Sell him at a slightly lower price, around £65M-70M, but it gets done before the World Cup

2) Sell him for something closer to what we expect circa £80M, but its becomes a protracted saga and gets dragged out towards the end of the window.

I don’t dispute he’s on the bench now because of the pending sale, and all the dynamics around whether that might have taken his focus away, Howe thinking players that are going to be here next season should get first go in the team etc.

I just think he was injured when they said he was. Howe was absolutely adamant that he was. It wasn’t a half-hearted “he said he felt something” line, like he trotted out for Isak in the summer, it was “Anthony Gordon is injured, 100%”.

Torygraph saying we are 20m apart (not sure which currency) and Bayern want to do it before the world cup.

Was going to post that German clubs like to do business early and refer to it as English if they do it late. So an early deal best of both worlds. Seasons ends this weekend for them. So they will have an idea who they are moving on and who is leaving.

Why does it have to be Bayern, ffs - they don't NEED him, they got everything they wanted out of Levy in the end for Kane, and showed last year with Wolte that they won't do anything that isn't on their own terms. This deal is a big test for the new management.

What's the problem with it being Bayern? Better to sell him out of the Prem, surely?

Option 1 please, leave it late and we get Wissa/Woltemade premiums taxed on us.

They're just very good/tough negotiators, and they're already in a position of strength to get something close to their preferred fee because the player wants to join them.

Given how shite everyone on here thinks he is, just give him away and free up the squad place, no?

We don't HAVE to pay anybody else's daft fees tbf. We've still got Barnes to play wide left so it's not like we are desperate.

I would probably support him at Bayern, but if he goes somewhere in the PL i will be forced to despise him.

It's in Bayern's interests to buy him early, it's in ours to sell him later knowing he's going to go somewhere this window.

As great as I think Eddie is - I think he'll bend the truth when he needs to. He may well have said Gordon had an injury, but i dont beleive that it was anything even remotely significant (like the one where the threw the towel in against barca), and equally eddie has just came out with some nonsense about why he isn't playing Gordon now. Eddie is fighting for his job, and if Gordon was anything other than a rat - hed be fighting tooth and nail to help him.
