Anthony Gordon (now playing for FC Barcelona)

Guess that means Rashford will be going back to Man United.

Be some bullshit convoluted rubbish deal if he does end up there like.

Yes. Therefore we think we have missed out on him.

Because they are desperate for a winger.

I think he will probably end up there but similar to Kalvin Philips to City will see little game time.

£70 million bid in according to Spanish press.

It's Euros. Think this one will run for a little while yet, as I don't think we'll be accepting that. They've actually seemingly put an initial bid on the table though, and so are seemingly much more serious about things.

Barça sends a formal offer of 70 million to Newcastle for Anthony Gordon!

Barça have sent a formal offer to the British club and are in pole position to sign the winger.

Barcelona are looking to make a decisive move for Anthony Gordon. According to SPORT, the Catalan club have already submitted a formal offer of €70 million to try and secure the signing of the England international and beat out other major European clubs such as Bayern Munich and Liverpool.

Barcelona's sporting management considers the Newcastle winger an absolute priority to bolster Hansi Flick's attacking options. The club believes Gordon possesses a profile that is very difficult to find in the current market due to his age, performance, versatility, and potential for growth. At 25, the British attacker can play both as a left winger and centrally, a versatility that particularly appeals to the German manager.

In fact, Flick gave the green light to the transfer days ago and believes the player would fit perfectly into his playing style due to his physical attributes, aggressive pressing, speed, and ability to attack space. The German coach also believes Gordon still has room to improve his performance within an attacking context like Barça's.

Optimism at Barça

The feeling at the club after the latest contacts has been especially positive. Deco and Bojan Krkic recently traveled to England to advance several transfer deals, but one of the key names on their agenda was precisely Anthony Gordon. Both executives returned to Barcelona with very positive feelings after the talks held during the trip. At Barça, they consider it crucial to act quickly to prevent other clubs with greater financial resources from gaining an advantage in the coming weeks.

Another factor generating optimism at Camp Nou is the player's willingness. The contacts revealed by SPORT in a face-to-face meeting held in Barcelona about a month ago between the player's representatives and members of the Barça sporting management were very positive. In that meeting, the England international's entourage conveyed that Gordon would be very keen to wear the Barça shirt despite having a contract with Newcastle until 2030.

The high asking price remains the main obstacle in this complex operation, but at Barça they believe the player's willingness could ultimately be decisive in bringing positions closer and facilitating negotiations that have already entered a much more serious phase.

I must be the only one who thinks 60m is a decent fee  Still time for Bayern to drive the price up too which I imagine we’re hoping for

We owe Everton, what is it 15%? Its almost not a profit at all.

Is it not 15% of any profit on the sale?

Athletic saying we want 80m euro.

That's cheap IMO, in this market. Feels like having been burned by the Isak saga we are keen to just get things moving without having the piss taken out of us, especially with it being a world cup summer.

Yes. So if it was £70m, they’d get £3.75m of it.

So 70 million good old English pounds.

I think that's about right. Throw a few add-ons in there and that's a good deal done nice and early.

Next step go and then offer all of that to Burnley for Jaidon Anthony

That's what it's normally reported as, not 15% of total.

So we sell him for 70 mil, they get 3.75 mil not 10.5.

Thats a lot better for us if true.

Feels like the same story just a different club.  Personal terms agreed but without a bid to match our valuation.

Had a whole summer of it last year with journos trying to force us to accept a lower offer

I can't remember exactly but i don't recall there being talk so early that the two clubs were in direct dialogue. Felt like Liverpool just sat back and let the media whip it all up.

All you complaining about the price must have loved the isak drama last season. We just need to get it done so we can move of from it

You'd be okay missing out on a potential 10-20mil on our summer transfer budget?
