Anthony Gordon (now playing for FC Barcelona)

Recommended Posts

Aye I like his words, as he says he wanted to leave 'in a good way'.  That wouldn't have happened if he stayed another season as the hounds were gathering, and that includes myself due to the way I perceived his attitude lately.

Said it earlier and I'll say it again, good move for all involved.

Positive news for us heading into the transfer market. Bunch of money for a player we haven’t really missed. But more importantly it sends a message to young players; we can develop your talent to Barcelona heights. This is a stronger message than most realize.

all feels a bit hollow given the lack of application in 90% of games over the past two years tbh

Exactly, phoned it in a lot this season, body language wasnt Great either, and I'm still certain he sat down and feigned injury to come off in a game we were getting battered, I don't recall which one.

I'm trying not to be a miserable cunt, but this feels like the other end of the Isak extreme. Gordon hasn't left after we let his deal expire. He's agreed a move to another club. While I get that it's good optics to brag about our player development, the "go and smash it in Barcelona" stuff is a bit small-time for me like.

Don't want to get into the habit of celebrating sales, but if this whole thing is anything to go by it would suggest we're running a much slicker operation compared to last summer. It really couldn't be more different to the Isak situation, though the key difference is probably in the character of the departing player. Gordon is a good lad who respects the club whereas Isak was apparently the opposite.

Still, it's a brilliant sale so fair play to those on our side; a very good fee and a very good example of what can be achieved by new signings if things go well here.

As for AG10 himself; wish him nowt but the best of luck for the rest of career. At NUFC there was a lot of good, a little bad, and a lot of in-between. Absolutely deserves his place in folklore as a member of that amazing squad who delivered Champions League football and silverware.

Onwards and upwards. 🫡

All getting a bit emotional this. This is what happens when they aren't hounded out.

Aye. Just watched that before on instagram. Feeling a bit melancholy about it all. But I’ve been totally nonplussed since it became obvious he was away at the end of the season.

It’s certainly easier to take because he’s going abroad to one of the biggest clubs in the world. Oh and when he hasn’t been a total cunt to get the move.

I’ve done a bit of an emotional u-turn. I hope he does well over there.

Good to read that. I may not have always loved you as a player Anthony, or warmed to your character but you’ve always said the right things and I don’t think you can argue that he hasn’t given a huge amount of effort. Good luck in the future, I think you’ll be a top player over there because of your pressing and pace, which will make up for your weaker technique compared with your teammates

Fair play to him for speaking the language although going from Elanga to Lamine Yamal on the opposite wing was always going to be the bigger culture shock.

Not really that bothered by this deal. Although I think he seems underrated on here, he won't be a massive miss as Barnes isn't a massive step down in quality. I also think Gordon has been really hampered by the low block teams have figured out work perfectly against us. At least we've made a hefty profit, which unfortunately in 2026 matters a lot.

Think he'll do well in Spain and unless we face them in the Champions League, I wish him well.
