SteV Posted Friday at 20:37 Share Posted Friday at 20:37 27 minutes ago, Sidg said: I'm trying not to be a miserable cunt, but this feels like the other end of the Isak extreme. Gordon hasn't left after we let his deal expire. He's agreed a move to another club. While I get that it's good optics to brag about our player development, the "go and smash it in Barcelona" stuff is a bit small-time for me like. We’ve maybe gone a touch OTT but I think that’s partly as a result of the bad feeling that immersed the club following the way dickhead left last summer. Obviously it had an immediate and lasting effect on the pitch, but the negative feeling that surrounded everything about it has lingered all season, one way or another. I suspect Howe has emphasised that that kind of scenario could not be allowed to happen again under any circumstances. And even listening to Gordon’s interview, although he obviously doesn’t reference it, he mentioned how keen he was to part on good terms, probably cos he’s looked at the nightmare his pal has had, and thought ‘fuck that, I need to leave with everyone saying I’m a great bloke’. We could still see Barnes/Willock left, Murphy/Elanga right. Quite a high possibility, although you’d like to think the club will cash in on Willock. Superior Acuña Posted Friday at 20:47 Share Posted Friday at 20:47 Football career's are short. Whatever Isak and Gordon go onto, being a Newcastle player has been a key part of their story. When they're retired - most of their life - all their clubs will be ex-clubs. You'd think you'd want to be remembered fondly.

Agreed, would also say the same thing about Ayoze, there were a couple seasons there where he was the only reason to watch the team. Plus I believe his fee was 0.5 million? Ridiculous. Not sure who's the better deal, but both are in the same ballpark for sure.
geordie_b Posted Friday at 20:50 Share Posted Friday at 20:50 Sad to see him go, he is the last part of a team identity that I loved. The press and intensity that brought us so much sucess was triggered and maintained by him. Whether he checked out or we moved away from that identity I dont know but (like Isak) there is nobody in our squad able to fill the hole he has left. SiLvOR Posted Friday at 21:18 Share Posted Friday at 21:18 All I can think of, is that this is exactly how it could have all panned out for Isak. Except he would have left in much higher regard. What a fucking complete twat. Anyway, glad Gordon's got his dream move. I'm not shedding any tears over this, he's been so inconsistent for us and seemingly not arsed a lot of the time, especially this season
