Anthony Gordon (now playing for FC Barcelona)

Same type of chance in the same position that he did the same thing against Barca.

Yeah it's happened too many times now.

It's just poor technique and lacking striking instincts. It's why he will never be an effective striker and he and Howe need to realise that aswell. However I know he only plays there when we are desperate.

He hasn't played badly last few games, was actually very sharp when he first came on and delivered a good cross for Barnes.

It's just the points about effectiveness have been proven in the last few games that most have been droning on about. Barnes is the more effective player and therefore should be first choice LW.

Mainly very good. Caused them no end of bother, was direct and a great assist. Ice cold for the pens, too. Was it his pass that Woltemade left for Tonali’s run for the penalty, as well?

His passing is generally ropey as fuck, mind. When he plays on instinct, taking his man on, quick give and go, out his feet and a cross. He can be unplayable.

But when he wants time on the ball and to slow it down. He becomes a hinderance with his wayward passing. The one across the face when they nearly scored and another where he hung onto it for about 20 touches, didn’t get anywhere, got loads beyond the ball. Then he passed it straight to them and they countered again.

I know I do single him out a bit. But it’s because I genuinely don’t think he is good enough to try and be this technical player and wish he would stick to what he’s good at.

Superb when he came on and took both his penalties very well.

Still don't understand how he missed that last second chance though.

Good cross for Barnes header too.

What planet are we on letting him take a free kick 25 yards from goal? He must be dynamic in training.

I feel like with our free kicks we just let the players decide on the pitch, there never appears to be a clear plan beforehand.

Other than Trippier, do we have anyone that is remotely dangerous from a free kick? Who last scored one other than Trippier?

Shelvey or Schar ?

Feels like Liam O.

He was a 7 at best for me. Which to be fair probably better then most today for me.

Got an assist, scored his pens. Pretty vital in us getting through on that basis. Also played a square ball that they nearly scored from, relentlessly went inside both in and out of possession and noticeably closed our whole play inwards as he has been doing for a little while now much to my frustration and seemingly that of Lewis Hall's. This is despite him having the bearing of almost every full back downtown he outside when he stays wide. Hate when he (and one or two others) go down though. It's absolutely fucking minging. Rolling around, rolling socks up, fucking about whilst play continues.

I honestly think that chance from 5 yards our was harder than folk think. A lad of his level should finish that nee bother - for sure - but he is going so fast and so is the ball - can see understand how he misses it.

If someone was "superb" they'd be almost flawless. He absolutely wasn't...again.

Folk need to stop dressing up his performances tbh, just as (perhaps) I need to be equally as critical of others as Gordon. However, I will be honest - he is firmly in my sights. As I can forgive poor ability but certain attitudes and tendencies I cannot.

Falls over again instead of getting a shot away. Been defending him this season but I can’t take him seriously anymore.

I blame the playing surface, the groundsmen at this club are stealing a living.

I say that with a hint of irony of course but I will say without any irony, our nets are shite.

Bring back these nets.

He was effective today, and took his pens well. Excellent assist, too. 7 (as above) is probably fair. But that miss! Didn't even get on it!

But I think he's improved in the last month+. He was pony for most of the season.

In recent seasons our pitch has been given awards for its upkeep and quality so, that is not right, I'm afraid.

He has improved but is yet to reach the levels he is capable of. Largely down to decision making and attitude for me.

Yeah our pitch is brilliant actually.

It's just a shame that our grounds team has decided on shallow goal nets.

We have the space for much better nets.

If you don't think that matters (I assume 98% of people agree with you that it doesn't, including the groundsmen) then you unfortunately are misguided, to the core of the soul.

Criticism of Gordon is ridiculously over the top.
When he came on, he scored one and help set up 2 (inc his pen) and people are still giving him grief   🤦🏻‍♂️

We should be happy him and barnes are both playing well and contributing, rather than looking for negatives.

His miss shocking mind 😬

We expect our footballers to be perfect all the time, every time. No other standard will be tolerated.

Can't beat a net that the ball properly nestles in. Either these ones or the really baggy black and white ones from the mid 90s were the best. These shallow modern ones where the ball bounces out are shit
