He doesn't want to be here though. Pointless keeping him just because we can.

Look at Isak for example. Completely derailed us.

No, I don't think Lewis Miley wants to leave. I don't think thiaw wants to leave etc.

I have 3 players who want to go.

Sandro

Gordon

Tino

So if Bayern were interested in Thiaw or Man City in Hall and they fancied it we should just sell at a reasonable price?

a lot of this is guess work, a lot of players with up their options this time of year, either leave or get a new deal generally

I’m fairly sure both would be all over a move to Bayern if they wanted them tbh.

This derailed us because we sold him so late and took gambles to replace!

im not against selling Gordon, its more the fees quoted and the general attitude towards wanting him out when it weakens us…I don’t really care about the players, both Isak’s sale and Gordon’s will damage the club

Probably but there's a difference between actively looking to move on and considering it it an offer comes along.

Gordon will be a good sale because hes the right age to move on, we've amortised a lot of his feelings, his output has been subpar for a long time and he's on a big wage.

He's a good player, no denying it and I think he will do well elsewhere but I still think it'd a sale we probably need to make.

Isak was almost entirety irreplaceable though to be fair, Gordon is nowhere near that.

Anything under 85 million is a piss take.

I agree with this. He's only 25 and a proven player. There will always be fans who slag off any player, but there's some big teams sniffing around for good reason. I'm sick of overpaying for unproven shite, so we should at least get market value for someone we know does the business.

Iv no problem moving him on, my point is we need good money, and to have a suitable replacement in place otherwise we lose a pretty important player, and potentially go back from where we are

We are currently in the bottom half, I don't expect us to go back further regardless of what we do.

For the record we probably sign someone who's currently not as good as peak Gordon but with a higher ceiling. We are priced out of someone as good as peak Gordon anyway.

Plus we already have Barnes who can take the first team shirt until any young replacement is ready.

Haven't signed a player in this image since 2023.

How many players better than Gordon has Wilson signed?

You do know we are only one win from the top ten after a hard season?

My personal belief is a competent striker and goalkeeper would have had us at least another 10 points?

Wilson is an unknown as far as I'm concerned and wouldn't have been my choice .

That being said, it's the first time he's had such an opportunity so let's see how he does.

How many Tonalis had Dan ashworth signed?

My worry if we move him on is Howe replaces him with someone like Jack Harrison because “English”, “prem experience” and “runs a bit”.

Only Ramsdale was English out of last summer's buys.

Caicedo? Cucurella? Isak? Gordon?

"We probably sign..." but Wilson is an unknown quantity and you can't name players of that standard he's signed.

We've got no idea if we will sign a higher ceiling player. There's no consistent track record of that at the club is my point.

They weren't that profile when he bought them though which is your point right?

If Ross Wilson spends this summer paying over the odds for average players who are at their peak then obviously he and the recruitment team would need cleaning out.

My point is Wilson doesn't have a significant track record of signing players that need development but have high ceilings (higher than Gordon) - the approach you said was probable. He's not an Ivan Campos - he's not even a Dan Ashworth. He may be better than both for us... but there's not the evidence that he will - yet.

Don't get the Gordon hate or the keenness to see him leave.

He's not a world beater but he's the best we have pretty much.

Agreed. Of course he hasn't been that good, or should I say very inconsistent this season in a pretty much dysfunctional team, but when he's on he offers things no one else does in our squad.

He may or may not. I don't know. However all of the briefings thus far is this is what we will be targeting.

And to repeat, I'm no fan of Ross Wilson he wouldn't have been my appointment because of his lack of track record, ultimately we have a flawed set up which is something I've commented about previously .

What is Wilson's track record?
